Senior Frontend Engineer

About the company

Paystack Microfinance Bank is building banking with care. We’re focused on creating reliable financial infrastructure that helps businesses and individuals manage and grow their money over time.

We operate as a separate company, building on nearly a decade of Paystack’s work in digital commerce and expanding beyond payments into credit, yield, treasury management, and embedded banking tools. Our approach is deliberate, long-term, and grounded in trust.

About the role

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Engineering team and contribute to building reliable, secure, and user-friendly financial products.

In this role, you will focus on implementing product features, improving existing user experiences, and maintaining frontend applications that support core banking, payments, onboarding, and customer operations. You will work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and compliance stakeholders to deliver high-quality interfaces that meet regulatory, security, and performance requirements expected of a licensed financial institution.

This role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys hands-on development, values clean and maintainable code, and is interested in building financial products used by individuals and businesses across Nigeria.

This role is hybrid and requires working from the Paystack Lagos office for at least two days in a week.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain frontend features for banking products such as onboarding, payments, account management, and dashboards
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into well-designed user interfaces
  • Ensure frontend implementations meet security, performance, accessibility, and regulatory standards expected in a financial services environment
  • Contribute to improving frontend code quality through testing, refactoring, and adherence to established patterns and best practices
  • Debug and resolve frontend issues across web and mobile-responsive experiences
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions with other engineers
  • Support ongoing improvements to development workflows, tooling, and application performance

Requirements

  • 6+ years of frontend experience with advanced React and TypeScript (or strong equivalent experience)
  • Expert-level understanding of build tools, bundling strategies, and deployment automation
  • Strong grasp of various application rendering strategies and architecture
  • Expertise in performance optimization, monitoring, debugging, and frontend observability
  • Familiarity with building and maintaining frontend component libraries
  • Strong product thinking with an eye for good design, user experience and accessibility considerations
  • Proven experience leveraging LLMs and AI development tools to improve productivity and drive process improvements
  • Deep understanding of secure coding practices for frontend applications
  • Demonstrated experience with Cypress, Playwright, and similar automated testing tools

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and compensation package
  • Comprehensive medical cover
  • Fully covered parental leave
  • Opportunity to take on leadership responsibility in a growing financial institution
  • Smart, kind colleagues who are invested in your growth
