About the job
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform mechanical test/validation.
- Perform FEA analysis and mechanism design
- Establish design requirements for new products, perform market research for new product definition and ideate new product concepts.
- Collaborate with industrial design team to establish directions and implement them in a parametric CAD stack.
- Formulate and document test procedures for products in development.
- Perform engineering tests to validate the design to achieve great reliability and functional performances.
- Establish a clear organizational structure for new and old CAD in Onshape software.
- Management and organization of prototype and engineering validation builds for new products.
- Prove technical guidance and supervise outsourced CAD designers and manufacturing vendors.
- Travel to China or other parts of Asia to visit suppliers 2-4 times per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA in Mechanical Engineering or related
- 18 months experience as a mechanical engineer- Senior Level
- 18 months work experience with the following:
- Basic material properties, surface finishes and phase gate manufacturing systems such as: EVT, DVT, PVT, Mass Production).
- Mechanical design and analysis including statics, dynamics, FEA, vibration;
- 3D CAD and 2D Mechanical drawings
- Manufacturing processing such as: machining, Injection molding, die casting, plating, coating, sheet metal.
- Electro-mechanical system design & testing, integration, validation and thermal design testing.
- Owning mechanical parts and assemblies from prototyping through mass production for high volume products that have been successfully shipped to customers.
SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and work from employer's office (2325 3rd Street San Francisco, CA 94110) 3-4 days per week.
- Telecommuting allowed 1 to 2 days per week within driving distance from San Francisco.
- Technical and skills test required prior to hire.
COMPENSATION:
- The base salary for this role is targeted between $142,854 - $170,000 USD. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors and may vary from the amounts listed above.
