Job Overview:
Responsible for establishing professional, high-quality service and member relations for individuals seeking mortgage loans with the credit union. Develops business from external and internal sources, while ensuring exceptional service and support for members throughout the mortgage application process.
Where You Will Work:
- This position is based remote in WA, with a focus on the Thurston County market.
- Travel is required for this position.
When You'll Be Working:
- Full-time, 40 hours a week.
Pay Range:
- The target base salary for this position is $42,000. In addition to base compensation, there is a competitive incentive plan, with no cap on upside.
- Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer of employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.
What You’ll Do:
- Introduces and evaluates member loan needs based on meeting their financial needs.
- Originates quality conventional, custom construction, government and from time-to-time home equity mortgage loans to their conclusion.
- Monitors loans in process and works with members to obtain and complete required documents.
- Continues to monitor applications in the processing stage and maintains accountability for seeing the loan to completion.
- Provides necessary disclosures to the member and develops a completed application ensuring all compliance related matters have been addressed prior to submitting to processing.
- Meets with branches, realtors, builders, and other referral sources within assigned trade area to build relationships and establish strong referral channels either through scheduled events or attendance of branch scheduled sales meeting, in accordance with RESPA Section 8 requirements.
- Responds to all branch referrals via CRM within one business day. Proactively involves the Director of Mortgage Sales to meet member demand and mitigate service failure.
- Remains active within the community through the credit union’s community engagement programs and regional realtor and builder associations to acquire new loan production.
- Follows all lending and compliance training and guidelines in an effort to reduce risk and exposure to the credit union.
- Reports and monitors the status of applications at predetermined one on one with the Director of Mortgage Sales on funding expectations as needed.
- Prepares and executes 90-day action plans designed to meet member needs and production goals as predetermined and approved by the Director of Mortgage Sales.
- Demonstrates highest levels of customer service, confidentiality and discretion when dealing with the internal and external members.
- Develops and maintains an acute working knowledge of the assigned duties and job functions; keeping up to date and requesting additional training and/or development as needed.
- Ensures duties performed are in compliance with all security, audit, regulatory compliance, information security, customer privacy, and Bank Secrecy Act/Customer Identification Program policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in mortgage related originations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's.
- Minimum of one (1) year loan originations experience in a financial institution.
- NMLS certification.
What You’ll Bring:
- Knowledge of or ability to learn federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations codes and standards related to the area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to SAFE Act, TRID, and HUD guidelines.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing member services; including member needs assessment, meeting service standards and evaluation of member satisfaction.
- Knowledge working with support systems such as FHA Connection and order mortgage insurance certificates for conventional, FHA, and VA mortgages.
- Explain policies, procedures, laws and regulations to members and fellow employees.
- Interpret a variety of instructions and technical procedures furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Interpret and applying laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Keep current with industry and regulatory changes and trends.

This position is eligible for Full-Time Regular benefits. Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage.

- Employees are able to enroll in our 401k plan.
- Full-Time Regular employees accrue 8 hours of vacation and 8 hours of sick leave, on a monthly basis.
- Full-Time Regular hired employees also receive 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, 1 floating holiday, 16 hours of self-care time, and 16 hours of volunteer time.
All benefits except 401k start the first of the month following date of hire. Employees become eligible to contribute to 401k on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
