Your Impact: 

We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented OSP Engineer to manage engineering efforts related to road moves, highway widening, and public infrastructure projects. This role requires close coordination with state/local agencies, DOT, utility companies, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely and efficient relocation or protection of telecom infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, the ability to work independently in a remote environment, and excellent communication skills to support projects from design through construction.


Core Responsibilities

  • Lead OSP engineering tasks for road move and highway widening projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

  • Coordinate with DOT, municipalities, utilities, and contractors to align relocation plans with road construction schedules.

  • Perform field surveys, site walks, and impact assessments on aerial, buried, and underground infrastructure.

  • Develop engineering designs, construction packages, and relocation plans for fiber/copper cable, pole transfers, conduit adjustments, and related facilities.

  • Provide cost estimates, materials lists, and project timelines.

  • Serve as the primary engineering contact during planning, permitting, and construction phases.

  • Maintain accurate documentation: as-builts, CAD drawings, GIS updates, and permit packages.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Construction, Planning, and Permitting teams.

  • Ensure compliance with RUS, NESC, and company design standards.


Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3–5+ years OSP Engineering experience, ideally with roadway relocation or utility coordination projects.

  • Strong knowledge of OSP design (aerial & underground), construction methods, and permitting.

  • Experience working with state DOTs, municipalities, and 3rd-party contractors.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, Microsoft Office, and OSP design software.

  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in field environments and manage multiple priorities.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond to changing project demands.

  • Strong listening skills with the ability to follow directions and apply feedback effectively.

  • May assist with training and onboarding new team members.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DOT projects and utility coordination on large-scale road or infrastructure efforts.

  • Knowledge of ROW (Right-of-Way) regulations and permitting processes.

  • Familiarity with fiber optic splicing, restoration, and network design.

  • Experience with systems such as ARAMIS, LFACS, MIC, WALDO, and TIRKS.


Work Environment & Requirements

  • Remote role with required fieldwork (site surveys & construction coordination).

  • Candidate must reside within 1 hour of Covington, LA or New Orleans

Base Pay Range

$36 - $40 USD
