Role Summary
Role: Lead Hardware Engineer
Location: Fremont, CA.
Summary:
The Lead Hardware Engineer will be crucial in advancing system performance by selecting and designing optimal technologies and components. This role is essential for the development of high-voltage onboard systems, including distributors, converters, and batteries. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, control, software, and other engineering groups, to ensure seamless integration of components into advanced systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the definition, documentation, design, and management of electronics hardware systems, including high voltage and low voltage batteries, sensors, actuators and control units.
- Generating requirements specifications, conducting analysis and supporting the integration and testing.
- Conduct system-level simulations to ensure functional and performance compatibility with other systems, including processes like Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and worst-case analysis.
- Identify tasks suitable for outsourcing, manage supplier relationships, and lead small project teams.
- Familiar with any of the process for design for manufacturing, design for compatibility and design for reliability
- Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in Hardware Engineering within industries such as automotive, aerospace, or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline, with a strong background in power electronics.
- Extensive experience in working with high-voltage systems, particularly up to 600 volts.
- Some experience designing electronics circuits.
- Proven ability to write clear and precise requirement specifications.
- Experience with system-level integration and cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with performing FMEAs and worst-case analysis.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with high-voltage systems and their components.
