Role Summary
Role: Technician, Field Service
Location: Fremont, CA.
A Technician, Field Service at Pebble will collaborate closely with vehicle systems engineers to repair/maintain flawless systems and subsystems that deliver an exceptional all-electric camping experience. The scope includes powertrains, HVAC, suspension and braking systems, closures, glazing, interior and exterior cosmetic panels, plumbing, electrical systems, and everything else in the engineering development process.
Responsibilities:
- Repairing delivered vehicles as new faults occur, while providing excellent customer experience in our direct to consumer model.
- Help develop servicing procedures and vehicle improvements to ensure repairs can be made.
- Maintain and prepare test assets (prototypes, bucks, mules, and customer vehicles) for testing, evaluation, and demonstrations.
- Support the fabrication of bucks, prototype parts, and construct test fixtures.
- Set up and conduct engineering experiments and tests, including functional tests, and field tests.
- Provide support for on-site and off-site testing.
- Assist in troubleshooting and failure analysis of components and subsystems.
- Organize and maintain R&D Lab area
- Support cross-functional workshop activities across Pebble as needed and whenever possible.
- Assist in the creation of new and updated manufacturing instructions.
- Adhere strictly to company safety and conduct policies.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and uphold strong work ethics that align with Pebble's mission, philosophy, and objectives.
- 5+ years automotive repair experience with ASE and HVAC handling certifications, EV and/or RV experience preferred.
- Experience in instrumenting test articles with various sensors such as strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, and electrical sensors.
- Proficiency in machine shop fabrication, including operating lathe, mill, drill press, etc, with welding and/or composite material experiences is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with power electronics and wiring schematics, ability to interpret process flow diagrams and CAD drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Confluence, JIRA, Lucidchart, Smartsheet.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and present technical information to various audiences.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
