
Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor - Full Time, Remote
Overview of the Role
We’re on the lookout for a licensed or certified alcohol and drug counselor to join the leading digital clinic for substance addictions. As a key member of our counseling team, you’ll support and empower individuals on their journey to overcome substance use disorders and lead addiction-free lives.
You’ll collaborate with a dynamic, cross-functional team and help shape the future of digital addiction care—all while working remotely, with flexible hours.
This is a full-time, remote position with flexible working hours, open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S.
In this role, you will:
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling to members via text, video, and phone, supporting their progress and recovery goals.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand behavioral health history, current symptoms, and member needs.
- Apply Pelago’s treatment philosophy, meeting members where they are and supporting goals ranging from moderation to abstinence.
- Use Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and relapse prevention techniques to strengthen coping skills, motivation, and accountability.
- Build strong therapeutic alliances in a fully virtual environment, maintaining empathy, safety, and member empowerment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical and operational teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care and seamless member experiences.
- Remain tech-fluent and adaptable, quickly adopting new telehealth tools, workflows, and documentation systems to deliver effective care.
We are looking for you to bring:
Active, unrestricted state-issued license or certification (IC&RC-recognized preferred).
- Examples include: CADC, LADC, LCADC, or state-equivalent non-intern credentials.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2+ years’ experience providing counseling for substance use disorders; Ideally in telehealth or digital health.
- Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), and Relapse Prevention.
- Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Tech-savvy and adaptable in fast-moving digital environments.
- Nice to have: National addictions credentials (e.g., AADC, CAADC, NCAC-II, or MAC).

The provided range reflects our US target salary range for this full-time position, which is part of our broader total compensation package, including incentive bonus program, stock options, comprehensive benefits, and incentive pay applicable to eligible roles. Individual pay within the range will vary based on a variety of factors like role-related experience and education, internal pay equity, and other relevant business factors. Base Pay Range
$59,000 - $62,000 USD
