Head of Market Intelligence

Raleigh, NC / New York, NY / San Francisco, CA / US-remote

Pendo is seeking a highly competitive, technically fluent Head of Market Intelligence to own how we understand and outperform the market.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for deep competitive intelligence, market analysis, and external signal interpretation across analysts, competitors, customers, and buyers. You will be the person who knows the landscape better than anyone else in the room, sees threats and opportunities early, and turns insight into decisive action.

You will partner closely with executive leadership, product, marketing, and revenue teams to ensure Pendo is positioned to out-innovate, out-message, and out-execute competitors across product analytics, digital adoption, and product-led growth.

Role Responsibilities

Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Own Pendo’s end-to-end market intelligence strategy, including competitive analysis, market structure, category evolution, and buyer dynamics
  • Develop and maintain deep, technically credible competitive intelligence across key competitors—products, architectures, roadmaps, pricing, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Build and evolve competitive frameworks, scorecards, and battlecards that directly influence product strategy, GTM decisions, and executive planning
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders to understand technical differentiation and pressure-test where we are vulnerable
  • Identify competitive risks early and surface clear, actionable recommendations to leadership
  • Translate market and competitive insight into decisions, not just decks

Analyst & External Signal Intelligence 

  • Lead Pendo’s engagement with Tier 1 analyst firms as a source of market signal and validation
  • Synthesize analyst feedback, evaluations, and inquiries into broader competitive and market intelligence
  • Ensure Pendo is prepared for major evaluations (MQs, Waves, etc.) with technical rigor and competitive awareness
  • Track analyst sentiment over time to identify shifts in perception, frameworks, and category definitions

Strategic Influence & Executive Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the executive team
  • Deliver clear, opinionated market briefings that inform strategy, investment decisions, and prioritization
  • Pressure-test narratives, positioning, and claims with real market evidence
  • Help leadership understand not just what the market says—but why, what to do about it, and where we win

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in market intelligence, competitive intelligence, analyst relations, product marketing, or strategy in high-growth B2B software
  • Proven ability to analyze complex, technical products and competitive landscapes
  • Deep experience translating market insight into executive-level decision support
  • Strong analytical mindset with a bias toward clarity, rigor, and outcomes
  • Executive presence and comfort challenging assumptions with data and logic
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for current or future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in product analytics, developer tools, data platforms, or customer experience technology
  • Experience working closely with Product and Engineering teams
  • Track record of influencing roadmap, positioning, or GTM strategy through competitive insight
  • Familiarity with product-led growth models and enterprise buying dynamics

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide.

The expected salary range for this role to be performed each location is as follows:

  • New York: $190,600 - 236,800
  • Raleigh: $182,100 - 224,900
  • San Francisco: $208,800 - 260,000
  • US National: $182,100 - 224,900

Individual pay rate decisions, including offers made within and over the expected salary range, are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
