Full Stack Engineering Manager

The Opportunity

People Data Labs is hiring a fully remote Full Stack Engineering Manager for our Web and Customer applications team. You’ll be responsible for managing a team of Front End and Full Stack software engineers, and working with product and design counterparts to drive the customer experience of peopledatalabs.com and the applications our customers use to purchase data packages and services and manage their accounts. As PDL primarily sells access to APIs and key data, our website is our most critical surface to connect and drive customer engagement. You'll also get the opportunity to help build out your team and hire a Full Stack engineer on day one. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 4-8 Front End and Full Stack software engineers, driving projects and initiatives through the team
  • Hire, coach and develop engineers on the team
  • Ensure and develop solid code quality and development practices and standards within the team
  • Responsible for developing product quality standards and release processes
  • Can be hands-on coding when needed within the team, provide technical feedback on code reviews
  • Work alongside UX designers and product managers to define the strategy, align resources, and drive execution and delivery of products
  • Partner with our marketing and growth teams to improve our website to drive new and prospective customers into our funnel and enable them to make updates and revisions to the website quickly to optimize engagement and conversion
  • Partner with customer success team to provide existing customers the tools they need to manage their accounts as well as provide internal insights into revenue and engagement
  • Partner with the core product and engineering teams on go-to-market work to unlock and launch new products and packages that we are continuously developing.
  • Drive alignment and provide solid communication to stakeholders and the business around priorities, deliveries, and improvements
  • Be a key contributor as part of the engineering leadership team in driving engineering initiatives, cultural growth, or architectural changes across the product and engineering teams

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of managing a team of 3 or more software engineers
  • 5+ years experience as a software developer, software engineer or similar
  • Experience with React.js
  • Experience with Python REST API backends (e.g. Django, fastAPI, Django Rest Framework, Flask or similar)
  • Experience with A/B testing frameworks (e.g. LaunchDarkly or similar)
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers
  • Experience hiring and recruiting
  • Experience managing individual and team performance
  • Experience working with product partners to develop roadmaps and drive execution and delivery of products and project; managing stakeholders, prioritization, and timelines
  • Experience working with engineering team members on architecture and design, and translation of Product Requirements Docs (PRDs) into technical design documents
  • Experience translating technical design documents into projects, milestones, and backlogs
  • Experience running agile sprints, kanban / backlog grooming (or similar)

Salary: $180K - $220K
