
Project Manager - Software Delivery
Technical Project Manager
Permanent | Hybrid, Bournemouth 2-3 days per week | Delivery Manager | Software Delivery
This role is a key Technical Project Management position within a software engineering delivery function. Working across multiple Agile development teams, you will be responsible for coordinating delivery, managing budgets and governance, mitigating risks and ensuring predictable outcomes across complex software programmes. You will work closely with engineering, operations, testing and product teams to drive successful delivery whilst supporting the adoption of modern software development practices, including AI-enabled engineering tools.
This role would suit a Technical Project Manager or Technical Delivery Manager who has experience working closely with software engineering teams and is comfortable challenging plans, managing delivery risk and driving accountability across multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Support release readiness, deployment planning and environment management
- Own and coordinate delivery plans across multiple teams
- Track and manage delivery through sprints and PIs
- Understand and monitor team velocity, capacity, and bandwidth
- Identify delivery risks, dependencies, and constraints early
- Guide teams to maintain predictable, sustainable delivery
- Cross team coordination across development, operations, testing, support, architecture and PLM
- Manage and track delivery budgets and forecasts
- Report delivery status, risks, and progress to key stakeholders
Skills & Experience:
- Software engineering background or strong technical delivery experience
- Solid experience in Software Project / Programme / Delivery Management
- Proven experience managing project finances, forecasts and delivery budgets
- Strong governance experience including management of RAID logs, risks, issues and dependencies
- Advanced Jira and Agile delivery management experience within software engineering environments
- Experience working alongside software development teams using technologies such as Java, Python and SQL
- Proven budget ownership and cost tracking experience
- Strong experience coordinating delivery across multiple teams
- Ability to influence and work effectively with senior and cross-functional stakeholders
- Hands-on experience working with Agile teams using Scrum and/or scaled Agile frameworks
Desirable Skills:
- Exposure to AI-enabled software development environments and tools such as Microsoft Copilot
- Experience within travel or transport technology, engineering, infrastructure, aerospace, defence or regulated software environments
