Executive Talent Sourcer & Researcher

New York City

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, Peregrine helps public safety organizations, state and local and governments, federal agencies, and private-sector institutions address society’s challenges with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Our AI-enabled platform turns siloed and disconnected data into operational intelligence — instantly surfacing mission-critical information to empower better, faster decisions that improve outcomes at every touchpoint. Today Peregrine supports hundreds of customers across 30+ states and two countries, serving more than 125 million people — and we’re amplifying our impact as we expand into the enterprise and internationally.

The Role

Peregrine builds software that helps public safety agencies make faster, smarter decisions with their data. Our platform brings together complex data systems, empowering organizations to do their best work. We’re growing quickly and expanding into new industries and geographies. To support that growth, we’re looking for a Leadership Researcher / Sourcer: a researcher at heart who happens to source. You’ll map markets from scratch, segment them intelligently, and use that research to identify and engage exceptional executive and senior leadership talent.

Research is the core of this role. For each search, you’ll build the market view first: which companies matter, how their leadership is organized, and where the strongest talent sits. Then you’ll engage the people you’ve uncovered. You’ll partner closely with recruiting leadership, hiring executives, and senior leadership to bring exceptional leaders into Peregrine.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and market mapping for each search, building a comprehensive view of the relevant leadership talent landscape, from scratch where none exists.
  • Segment markets by stage, scale, business model, growth trajectory, and organizational maturity to build target-company ecosystems.
  • Map leadership teams and org structures within target companies to identify who owns the relevant scope, as well as high-potential leaders one level below.
  • Identify non-obvious and adjacent talent pools rather than relying solely on obvious competitors, titles, or previously known candidates.
  • Translate research into actionable market insights (talent availability, org structures, candidate patterns) for recruiters and hiring executives.
  • Partner with recruiting leadership and hiring executives to turn leadership hiring needs into clear search strategies and candidate profiles.
  • Proactively source and engage passive leadership candidates through thoughtful, highly personalized outreach.
  • Conduct intake conversations that assess leadership trajectory, scope, impact, and motivations.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date pipelines and candidate activity in our applicant tracking system and recruiting tools.
  • Maintain a high bar for candidate experience and discretion, particularly on confidential or highly sensitive searches.

What we look for

  • 5+ years of research and sourcing experience for senior or executive-level talent, in executive search or in-house at a fast-paced, high-growth company.
  • A track record of building research from the ground up: market maps you created, not just maintained.
  • Experience mapping multiple distinct markets and understanding growth-stage companies, including how stage and scale shape leadership structures.
  • Strong market-segmentation instincts, whether refined in an executive search firm or in-house.
  • The ability to research organizational structures and identify the actual scope and reporting lines of executives (not simply searching by title).
  • Curiosity and creativity in how you uncover talent beyond traditional channels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect authentically with senior leaders and represent Peregrine’s mission, team, and culture.
  • Comfort working in applicant tracking systems and recruiting tools to manage pipelines and workflows.
  • Strong judgment and discretion with confidential searches and sensitive organizational information.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
