Position Overview:
As the Director of Benefits at Perry Ellis International, you will be a strategic leader responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of the company's comprehensive benefits programs. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of employee benefits trends, compliance regulations, and best practices. You will lead a team and collaborate closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Legal to ensure our benefits offerings attract, retain, and engage top talent while remaining competitive and cost-effective. You will be instrumental in shaping the employee experience through the delivery of impactful and valued benefits programs. This position reports to the Chief Human Resource Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the overall benefits strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's business objectives and talent philosophy.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of all employee benefits programs, including health and welfare, retirement plans (401(k), pension, etc.), leave policies, wellness initiatives, and other employee perks.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and FMLA.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and evaluate vendor performance to ensure high-quality service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead the annual benefits renewal process, including analyzing utilization data, evaluating plan designs, and negotiating rates.
- Assist with the development and management of the benefits budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and optimal resource allocation.
- Oversee the development and delivery of employee communication and education materials related to benefits programs.
- Provide guidance and support to the HR team and employees on benefits-related inquiries and issues.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and legislative changes in the benefits landscape.
- Lead and develop a high-performing benefits team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Partner with internal stakeholders on projects related to employee well-being and engagement.
- Conduct regular audits of benefits programs and processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and present benefits-related reports and analytics to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration and management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and administering a wide range of employee benefits programs.
- Strong knowledge of relevant federal and state benefits laws and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate benefits information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist), SHRM-SCP, or SPHR.
- Experience working in the retail or apparel industry.
- Fluency in Spanish
