RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., sells ideas/concepts and convinces others to adopt a course of action) for Men’s Cut & Sew Knitwear and Sweaters.
- Responsible for the entire product design process to include market research, inspiration boards, jacquard and print development, sketching in 2D and 3D, presentations, fittings, and tech pack hand offs.
- Ensures that the product is consistent with market trends, business strategy, whilst maintaining the brand’s DNA.
- Research competitors frequently through in-store visits, presents findings and analysis to teams
- Ability to update best sellers and to invent next best seller product
- Ability to structure and design high perceived value products which meet price requirements and tells a compelling merchandising story.
- Attends design meetings, leads presentations, and works with cross functional partners.
- Responsible for communicating design details through accurate, detailed flat sketches.
- Creates fabric, pattern, and body CADs, updates and modifies throughout the season.
- Responsible for the design and development of new fabric innovation in both Cut & Sew Knits & Sweaters.
- Actively participates in all fittings, completing follow-up tasks like sketch updates, fabric layouts, and logo placements.
- Attends all WIP (work in progress) meetings to keep abreast of calendar milestones and actionable projects.
- Maintains complete tech packs in partnership with the Product Development team.
- Responsible for approving all lab-dips, knit-downs, strike offs for development, as well as pre-production approvals for bulk.
- Occasional travel will be required domestically and internationally.
SKILLS:
- High level of creativity with a passion for design
- Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Ability to learn new computer technology including 3-D design and NEDGraphics
- Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, yarn, and stitch.
- Strong taste level with experience designing for full price and off-price markets.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to present in front of a diverse audience of cross-functional partners.
- Managerial experience
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree (B.A) from a college or university, major in Design
- 7+ years of design experience preferable in Men’s Sweaters and Cut & Sew Knitwear
Salary offered will be commensurate with experience. For this New York based position, the expected base salary is $95,000 - $120,000.
