Summary:

Perry Ellis International is seeking an experienced and dynamic National Sales Director to lead the sales strategy and execution for the Original Penguin brand across the United States. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving significant revenue growth, expanding market share, and building strong, lasting relationships with key retail partners. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the apparel and lifestyle market, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets. 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop, implement, and lead the national sales strategy for the Original Penguin brand, aligning with overall brand objectives and financial targets.

  • Revenue Growth: Drive aggressive top-line revenue growth by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and optimizing product placement.

  • Account Management: Oversee and cultivate strong relationships with major national accounts, department stores, specialty retailers, and e-commerce partners.

  • Market Share Expansion: Identify white space opportunities and develop strategies to increase Original Penguin's market share within key product categories and retail channels.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, manage, mentor, and motivate a high-performing national sales team. Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching, and conduct regular performance reviews.

  • Merchandising & Product Collaboration: Partner closely with design, merchandising, and planning teams to ensure sales strategies are aligned with product development, inventory availability, and seasonal launches. Provide critical market feedback to inform future collections.

  • Budget & Forecasting: Develop and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and sales plans. Monitor performance against targets and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, competitive activities, and consumer insights to identify opportunities and adapt sales strategies.

  • Promotional Strategy: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute effective promotional strategies and in-store activations that drive sales and enhance brand visibility.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Provide regular, comprehensive sales reports and analysis to 

  • senior management, highlighting performance, opportunities, and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of progressive sales leadership experience within the apparel, fashion, or lifestyle consumer goods industry, with a strong focus on national accounts.

  • Demonstrated success in driving significant revenue growth and market share expansion for a consumer brand.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies.

  • Exceptional leadership, team-building, and motivational skills.

  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication (written and verbal) skills.

  • Excellent analytical abilities with proficiency in sales forecasting and data interpretation.

  • Ability to travel extensively as required.

  • Deep understanding of retail channels, including brick-and-mortar, e-commerce, and wholesale operations.

Salary offered will be commensurate with experience. For this New York based position, the expected base salary is $170,000 - $190,000.
