Position Overview
Perry Ellis International is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team, reporting to the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting. This role actively participates in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for recording journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and analyzing financial data across multiple subsidiaries to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial results. The ideal candidate must be a proactive individual with strong analytical and communication skills who can manage multiple deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Participate in month-end close activities and maintain the Corporate Accounting close calendar.
- Prepare and input monthly journal and adjusting entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts at the corporate level with multiple subsidiaries.
- Execute and maintain all recurring entries, including those for General Accounting, Deferred Rent, Allocations, Tenant Allowance, Personal Property Tax, and other assigned categories.
- Assist with Mass Allocation entries.
- Record accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Establish new accounts or modify existing account structures within the NetSuite financial system.
- Provide support for Tax and Compliance functions.
- Conduct special projects/studies, prepare analysis as needed.
- Participate in sales tax, year-end, and interim audits.
- Maintain international accounting schedules in multiple currencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or 3–5 years of work experience in an accounting role.
- Basic knowledge of GAAP.
- Basic understanding of the relationship between the general ledger and sub ledgers.
- Knowledge and skill in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to accounting software such as Oracle, NetSuite, and Smart View.
- Knowledge and skill in Oracle Financial and Essbase.
