Position: Director, Learner Affairs

Reports to: Senior Vice President, Learner & Alumni Success

Location: United States

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Learner Affairs to lead the establishment and management of our Department of Learner Affairs at Per Scholas. The Director of Learner Affairs is a strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing systems that ensure an equitable, safe, and supportive learning environment for all Per Scholas learners.This role involves initial hands-on involvement of existing processes, while concurrently working with the SVP of Learner Success in developing the departmental framework. The priority areas of this department are compliance with ADA accommodation requests and learner complaints that must be appropriately routed and addressed.  

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about the learner experience and thrives in a collaborative environment. This person should bring both a people-centered approach to their work and a strong attention to detail and process. This person should be comfortable working with our technology tools and systems. The ideal candidate should thrive in a role where they are building processes, working directly with learners, and leading multiple priorities of the work. Time management, analytical decision making, and the ability to manage multiple priorities will be critical skills in this role.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership and Direct Learner Engagement: 
    • Perform learner facing/internal tasks related to ADA accommodation requests and approval/denial process. 
    • Manage and ensure nationally consistent processes for learner complaints.

  • Framework Development: Work in collaboration with key leaders to develop and enhance comprehensive policies, procedures, and guidelines for ADA compliance and learner complaints, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate learner affairs initiatives with broader organizational strategies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal stakeholders such as training team leadership, instructors, legal/compliance, and other staff, to address concerns and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement feedback mechanisms and processes for continuous improvement in ADA accommodations and learner complaint resolution.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to ADA regulations and organizational policies related to learner affairs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3 years of experience in related fields, with demonstrated ability to lead and launch new initiatives or programming.
  • Expertise: Understanding of ADA compliance and accommodations process in educational or workforce settings. Experience in handling learner grievances or complaints is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Staff Training: Proven experience to train key stakeholders in process rollout and delivery.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to think strategically and translate strategies into actionable plans.
  • Problem Solver: Strong analytical skills with a track record of resolving complex issues effectively.
  • Commitment to Diversity: Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational settings.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail, Calendar)
  • Comfortable using Salesforce or similar CRM and case management systems.
  • Able to quickly learn and integrate new tech tools into workflow and team operations.

Communication:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to convey complex or sensitive information with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Strong attention to detail. 

 

COMPENSATION 

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $70,000-$75,000. The salary difference is typically determined by several factors, including the selected candidate's geography and alignment with qualifications and experience.
