Position Title: IT Support Instructional Assistant Intern
Location: Indiana, Indianapolis
Reports To: Managing Director
Duration: May-August 20 hours a week
Compensation: Unpaid Internship
Who We Are Looking For
Per Scholas Indianapolis is seeking a passionate and team-oriented individual to join our Technical Instruction Training Team as an IT Support Instructional Assistant Intern. This part-time internship offers a unique opportunity to support adult learners as they build technical skills and prepare for entry-level roles in IT Support.
This role is tailored for college students, particularly those engaged with the Indiana Latino Institute, who are interested in developing real-world experience in technical education and training. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about teaching, eager to learn, and aligned with Per Scholas’ mission to advance economic mobility through tuition-free training and career development. Main Objectives
The IT Support Instructional Assistant Intern should be able to:
- Provide effective support to the Lead Instructor both in and outside of class sessions.
- Assist learners with technical and academic needs during and outside of class.
- Demonstrate or gain understanding in core IT Support concepts such as:
- Hardware
- Software
- Networking
- Operating Systems
- Troubleshooting & Support Tools
Key Responsibilities
Classroom & Lab Support
- Assist with technical training sessions to prepare learners for CompTIA A+ Certification.
- Monitor and support learners during live classes, in-person or virtually.
- Troubleshoot classroom/lab equipment, software, or connectivity issues.
- Provide individual academic support and tutoring.
- Help manage class timing and daily schedules.
Administrative Support
- Grade assignments and monitor learner progress using Canvas LMS.
- Track attendance and performance data accurately.
- Participate in team check-ins and maintain learner records in systems such as Salesforce.
- Support learners through individual meetings and progress discussions.
Growth & Development
- Cross-train in IT fields like Networking or Cybersecurity.
- Participate in professional development using platforms like Udemy and LinkedIn Learning.
- Lead class segments occasionally to build instructional skills.
- Contribute to special projects and out-of-classroom tasks.
Qualifications
Preferred Experience & Education
- Currently enrolled college student affiliated with the Indiana Latino Institute.
- Interest or background in IT support, technical training, or a related field.
- Recommendation from a Per Scholas staff member or instructor.
- Desire to obtain IT certifications such as CompTIA A+.
