POSITION TITLE: Technical Instructor, Data Center
REPORTS TO: Director, Tech Instruction, ITS/EUDS
DURATION: Full Job / Contract – 8 Weeks
LOCATION: Remote with On-Site Facilitation (On-prem training required during the final weeks / Living near Northern Virginia)

Position Summary
We are seeking a Technical Instructor, Data Center to lead and deliver our Data Center Technician training program. This instructor will provide daily technical instruction, monitor learner progress, and facilitate both remote and on-premises training sessions as outlined in the program schedule. This role is ideal for a dynamic educator with a strong background in enterprise IT infrastructure and a passion for workforce development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate curriculum modules including:
- OSHA & NFPA Safety
- Networking Basics (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Routing & Switching)
- Data Center Hardware, Cabling & Cooling
- Server Administration (Windows/Linux)
- Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V)
- ITSM and ServiceNow
- Data Center Operations & Security
- AI Tools in IT Support
- Facilitate labs, assessments, and capstone project evaluations
- Maintain accurate learner data in Canvas LMS and Salesforce (grades, attendance, progress notes)
- Provide individualized academic support and coaching
- Support compliance with all academic and safety policies
- Collaborate with fellow instructional staff and learner support teams for learner success
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience teaching, training, or mentoring in technical environments
- Strong technical experience in:
- Networking fundamentals (IP addressing, LAN/WAN, OSI layers)
- Physical data center hardware & SOHO/IoT devices
- BIOS/UEFI, troubleshooting, and break/fix methodology
- Cable running, termination, testing (Cat 5/5e/6), and patch panels
- Virtualization tools (VMWare, VirtualBox, Hyper-V type 1 & 2)
- Familiarity with IDRAC configuration and RAID concepts
- Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and GPOs
- ITSM tools and ticketing platforms, particularly ServiceNow
- Schneider Electric (selected 12 courses)
- Basic knowledge of:
- Generative AI applications in IT
- Low-voltage topology
- Experience delivering and holding OSHA & NFPA Safety certification
- Experience with remote instruction via Zoom or equivalent platform
Preferred Qualifications
- Linux & Windows systems administration
- Experience in data center environments (MDF, IDF, CDF)
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification
- Experience writing instructional content or customizing curriculum
Instructional Format & Schedule
- Duration: 8 weeks
- Format: Primarily remote with required on-prem instruction during the final phase of training
This role is critical to ensuring that learners gain the foundational and applied knowledge to succeed as Data Center Technicians or entry-level IT infrastructure specialists. For this role specifically, it is a contract role of $40 per hour for 8 weeks
