Veterinary Assistant
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide excellent customer service to clients both in person and over the phone using a multi-line system, including greeting clients warmly, answering questions, and relaying messages accurately and promptly
- Prepare patient files, admit patients, maintain accurate medical records, and update client financial information
- Educate clients on basic animal care, treatments, laboratory tests, medication administration, and discharge instructions
- Prepare invoices, process payments, and support front desk operations as needed in a cross-trained, team-oriented environment
- Assist veterinarians during appointments by gathering histories, restraining patients, and supporting exams in rooms
- Provide surgical support including patient preparation, monitoring assistance, instrument handling, and recovery care
- Execute treatment orders and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform laboratory and diagnostic tasks including collecting samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology), running in-house lab work, taking radiographs, and maintaining lab equipment
- Perform phlebotomy and fill prescribed medications accurately
- Provide daily patient care including walking, feeding, cleaning cages, and monitoring hospitalized pets
- Maintain a clean, organized hospital through housekeeping duties such as laundry, dishes, mopping, and waste removal
- Help create a safe, compassionate, and efficient environment for patients, clients, and team members

REQUIREMENTS
3 plus years veterinary experience or education
Team-oriented
Ability to multi-task
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Must be a team player and have compassion for pets and their people
