As an innovative company in the field of stationary energy storage systems, PHENOGY develops future-proof battery solutions for industrial, commercial, and grid-related applications. As we move from a dynamic start-up into an ambitious scale-up phase, we are looking for a customer-oriented and technically strong Technical Sales Engineer / Manager (f/m/d) to help accelerate our commercial growth in the BESS market. 

In this role, you act as the technical counterpart to customers amd partners as part of the sales team. You translate complex requirements into commercially attractive and technically feasible BESS solutions, are part of high-value customer conversations, and help position PHENOGY’s sodium-ion battery technology in a competitive and fast-moving market. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, R&D, and Operations to ensure that customer needs, technical feasibility, and commercial value are aligned from the first consultation through to proposal stage.

Your Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Customer & Technical Sales
    • Be the technical expert as part of the sales team throughout the sales cycle for PHENOGY's BESS solutions
    • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into technically and commercially viable solution concepts
    • Present technical solutions and communicate their value to customers and partners
  • Solution Engineering & Proposal Development
    • Design customized BESS solutions and support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals
    • Conduct load profile analyses, business case assessments, and ROI calculations
    • Support tender, RFP, and customer qualification processes
  • Internal Coordination & Market Feedback
    • Collaborate closely with Engineering, R&D, Product Management, and Operations
    • Ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with internal capabilities
    • Provide customer and market insights to support continuous product improvement

Must have’s

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field
  • At least 3 years of experience in technical sales, solution engineering, sales engineering, application engineering, project engineering or a similar customer-facing technical role
  • Strong technical understanding of battery systems, power electronics, energy storage, renewable energy systems, industrial energy infrastructure or similarly complex technical products
  • Experience with customers or applications in at least one of the following areas: BESS, PV / solar systems, EV charging infrastructure, UPS, switchgear, power electronics, grid infrastructure, industrial energy systems or complex engineered products
  • Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to customers, sales colleagues, and internal technical teams
  • Strong commercial mindset and ability to connect technical features with customer value, business cases and buying decisions
  • Full professional proficiency in German and English

Nice-to-have’s

  • Direct experience in battery technology, BESS, sodium-ion, lithium-ion, power conversion systems or grid-connected storage applications
  • Experience in technical solution selling for industrial, commercial, utility, grid operator or infrastructure customers
  • Familiarity with energy markets, grid requirements, regulatory frameworks or C&I energy use cases
  • Experience preparing technical proposals, RFP responses, feasibility assessments, load profile analyses or ROI calculations
  • Experience in an early-stage, scale-up or high-growth technical environment
  • Existing network in renewable energy, e-mobility, energy infrastructure, industrial power systems or related customer groups
Location:  Bremen, Germany or Technopark Lucerne, Switzerland
Travel readiness: Regular customer and site visits within Germany and Switzerland, depending on business needs
Reports to: Head of Sales – EMEA
