Job Description

The Philadelphia Phillies are seeking a highly passionate and motivated leader for the role of Minor League Nutrition Coordinator. This role will be charged with the management of the Minor League nutrition program for the Phillies Minor League players. Ideal candidates will lead this department with compassion and creativity while integrating cross-departmentally to ensure the best care for each player in this organization. Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Departmental Standards: Manage the departmental standards in accordance with the direction of the department as well as the direction of the organization.
  • Staff Management: Oversee a diverse group of dietitian/nutritionists at various Minor League affiliates with responsibilities across each Minor League level. This will include regular check-ins with each dietitian both in-person and remote. Ensure the development of each direct report with regards to both the goals of the staff member as well as the organization.
  • Cross-Departmental Integration: Work with each of the Baseball Operations departments to understand initiatives both individual to each player and high level. Consistent communication with other department leaders to ensure that everyone is progressing in the desired direction will be key to properly ushering this department into a progressive future.
  • Budget Management: Manage the Minor League Nutrition Budget inside the parameters given by the director. This will include the management of each affiliate dietitian/nutritionist and their management of each affiliate’s budget.
  • Education: Stay abreast as to the current performance nutrition trends. Ensure the Dietitians/nutritionists are participating in continuing education to further their practical knowledge. Manage the Minor League nutrition education program that will be player-facing. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a sports performance environment and 2 years in a people management role (managing at least 2 employees) in a professional setting. 
  • Past experience managing budgets, specifically related to food services
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, coaches, and executives.
  • Ability to travel both abroad and domestically – 7-10 days/month. 
  • Willing to relocate to Clearwater, FL to work out of the Player Development complex.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian
  • Previous experience in a professional sports team environment 
  • Previous experience managing catering for a professional sports team. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
