
Product Development Manager

Develop infrastructure, process and systems to enable an organized and scalable product development function. This role is remote, giving you the flexibility to work from home while staying closely connected to where the action happens - our stores. To make the most of that connection, you’ll need to be based in either the San Francisco Bay Area or Los Angeles. WHAT YOU’LL DO
Product Discovery
- Research and establish various consumer data resources and use resources to understand the consumer's demographic, psychographic and behavioral drivers and identify unmet consumer need(s).
- Leverage marketplace data and trends to evaluate the competitive landscape and create strategies and recommendations for future Philz product development.
- Complete opportunity assessment to determine opportunities for growth with existing in-store product offerings.
Product Planning & Marketing
- Develop a compelling product vision that sets the goals and direction for the product.
- Prioritize ideas or key initiatives that could help achieve product vision.
- Leverage brand, consumer, and marketplace data to develop product roadmap.
- Collaborate with key cross functional stakeholders and leaders to determine product feasibility and calendar placement.
- Prepare and present a product plan to gain stakeholder alignment.
- Define and track metrics to measure the success of product implementation, analyze results, and partner across the organization to develop action plans and enhancement recommendations.
- Partner with other teams to conduct financial analysis of products.
Product Optimization
- Develop product briefs of current products outlining requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Create a prioritized list of initiatives to inform the development plan.
- Lead cross-functional teams responsible for new product development and commercialization.
- Partner with other teams to conduct financial analysis of products.
- Partner with operations teams to ensure products are deployed properly.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 2+ years of product management or product development experience in food & beverage/hospitality industry, either CPG or retail
- 2+ years of experience working with 3rd party vendors and consultants
- 2+ years of experience leading or assisting in development of product concepts from conception through marketing and implementation
- Experience working for a national multi-unit food & beverage retailer is a plus
- Ability to influence through interpersonal skills and data, operate with personal ownership, and take action with courage

- Exerting up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
**Compensation & Benefits A reasonable estimate of the starting annual base salary for this role is $125,000 to $150,000. Please note that the base salary will vary based on qualifications, previous experience, and work location.
