Industrial Regional Sales Manager - North Pacific Region

Job Summary

Develop and execute strategic and tactical regional plans to align with the sales and marketing objectives of the US Subsidiary and the Industrial Components & Electronics segment. Provide visionary leadership and comprehensive oversight in the implementation of these plans, collaborating closely with the sales team and distribution partners. Foster a dynamic and growth-oriented environment for the Automation & Industrial Sales Engineers, with a strong emphasis on driving top-line revenue growth. Design and implement effective coaching plans and activities to cultivate a team of high-performing professionals.

This role is responsible for Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet/exceed sales growth objectives as established by the VP of Sales, IC&E and Director of Sales, IC&E and successfully utilize all resources within the region and Harrisburg.
  • Work with Director of Sales and marketing resources to develop a strategic vision for the industries and customers within your regional assignment.
  • Develop tactical implementation of sales and marketing strategies through effective communication and delegation within your team to insure effective execution of sales and distribution channel plans, policies and processes and goal achievement.
  • Implementation of all plans, policies and programs either approved by or developed by IC&E sales and marketing management.
  • Forecasting, reporting, and communicating to the Director of Sales as requested.
  • Be proficient in R3/BASE and Negotiation skills and implement the skills to build strong relationships, generate profitable revenue and drive optimum results.
  • Personally utilize and insure sales team utilizes the CRM as a communication, planning, reporting, measurement and tracking tool to increase productivity.
  • Build a high-performance team able to grow market share in all product areas and be responsible and accountable for all sales activity, personnel, and organizations within your assignment.
  • Recruit, develop and retain high performing team members and evaluate personnel and effectively coach, mentor and/or terminate as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships at key accounts and distribution channel locations while leading coordination of all sales and marketing activities as it relates to accounts, personnel, distributors, and representatives within your assignment.
  • Monitor and evaluate assigned KPI’s for your area of responsibility and report to the Director of Sales on a monthly basis.
  • Use effectively verbal and written communications within the entire Phoenix Contact organization.
  • Continually make recommendations to Harrisburg Sales, Marketing, and Distribution in order to improve our business efficiencies.
  • Actively participate in regional industry associations and related activities.
  • Planning for, managing and staffing all sales promotion activities within the Region, such as trade shows, seminars, training classes and customer driven activities.
  • Perform frequent and detailed performance reviews of all direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge on all Phoenix Contact products/solutions with a specific emphasis/expertise Industrial Control Cabinet and Automation solutions.
  • Continually review and develop your local and regional distributor channel to ensure optimal support of the Phoenix brand and stated sales strategies.                                                                                                                                        

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree required (Engineering discipline preferred). MBA not required but preferred.
  • 5-7 years outside sales experience required.
  • Industrial/Automation industry sales experience preferred.
  • Experience in working with industrial and automation distributors.
  • Proficient with Windows based applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Experience with a customer relationship management software package.
  • Demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.
  • Demonstrate an honest and forthright presence by taking responsibility for own mistakes and not blaming others, and by doing what he / she commits to doing.

Essential Job Functions

  • Must be able to travel via airplane.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (sample, demos, and literature).
  • Must be able to travel overnight 35-50% as required by assigned territories.
  • Attendance in accordance with company policies and participation in local, regional, and (inter)national meetings.
