Role: Manager, BFSI Compliance – Lending

About the Role

The Compliance Program Advisory team plays a critical role in ensuring that all functional units adhere to regulatory requirements throughout the product development lifecycle and ongoing maintenance. The team also manages compliance with evolving RBI and other regulatory guidelines, ensuring seamless implementation across PhonePe’s lending and financial service offerings.

Compliance teams work closely with business, legal, risk, and audit functions to provide regulatory expertise, assess and mitigate compliance risks, and monitor the effectiveness of compliance controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the compliance oversight for the Digital Lending business at PhonePe.
• Monitor regulatory developments in the NBFC/LSP landscape to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.
• Advise business and support teams on relevant compliance laws, rules, and standards, ensuring timely updates on regulatory changes.
• Assist in gap analysis of new/revised regulatory guidelines and support in implementing action plans.
• Act as a compliance partner in discussions with product teams to address regulatory requirements in product development.
• Support the development of compliance solutions for regulatory challenges faced by business units.
• Prepare periodic reports on compliance reviews, highlighting key findings and action points.
• Collaborate across Compliance, Operations, Product, and Tech teams to ensure regulatory adherence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: 7-10 years of experience in compliance roles within Digital Lending, Financial Services, Fintech, or NBFCs.
• Education: Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
• Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong understanding of lending industry regulations and compliance best practices.
  • Experience in regulatory audits and interactions with regulators.
  • Ability to assess compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to navigate complex regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
