Role Overview  

The Central Risk Team architects plug-and-play risk infrastructure and AI-driven intelligence for all business verticals (Merchant, Consumer, AML and others). Our goal is to enable secure scaling through algorithmic excellence, replacing siloed, custom analysis with centralized, scalable intelligence capabilities.

The Senior Manager will serve as a strategic architect for centralized intelligence for Trust and Safety across PhonePe. You will evaluate multifaceted risk challenges across business units. You will manage the entire intelligence lifecycle, translating business problems into rigorous data goals and actionable AI models.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Centralized Strategy: Reinterpret vertical-specific risk challenges into unified, central data solutions that serve the entire ecosystem. This includes Risk Profiling, Risk Categorization, Risk Intelligence , Signal Repository, Overall Detection & Prediction capabilities and Signal precision and recall of the overall system intelligence
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Partner with Product and Engineering to embed risk mitigation natively into platform infrastructure and workflows.
  • AI Governance: Lead the partnership with Data Science; formulate model requirements based on business outcomes and design the frameworks for model integration.
  • Systemic Problem Solving: Create and manage the central risk roadmap based on short term goals and long term needs. Create convincing use cases for AI and design data-driven goals that plug into larger business systems.
  • Leadership: Direct a high-performance analytics team, fostering technical rigor and sophisticated inquiry.

Core Professional & Methodological Expertise

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Engineering or Master’s in a quantitative field (Management, Stats, Math).
  • Professional Experience : 8+ years driving data-led outcomes. Proven ability to translate abstract problems into data goals and manage AI models from ideation to cross-functional system integration.
    Expertise in proficiency in Customer Profiling, Behavioral Segmentation, Anomaly Detection, Predictive Modeling, and Cohort/Funnel Analysis is a plus.
    Direct fraud experience is not mandatory, we will expect you to be able to demonstrate how to re-engineer these methodologies to solve complex risk use cases.
  • Technical Skills: Expert command of SQL, Python/R, and Spark to process large-scale data and synthesize insights via Tableau/PowerBI. Experience with statistical modeling
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, story telling with data, project management, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
