Key Responsibilities
- Legal Collections & Strategy: Manage the full legal lifecycle of delinquent accounts, utilizing legal frameworks to maximize collections.
- Contract Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end onboarding of new collection vendors, from conducting background checks to executing final contracts from Collections perspective.
- Update existing vendor agreements to align with operational, compliance, or commercial changes.
- Manage collections-specific obligations within Partner contracts and handle related amendments.
- Partner Relations: Secure the necessary approvals to authorize specific vendors for Partner portfolios.
- Process & Audit:
- Conduct internal audits of collection SOPs to ensure they remain aligned with business metrics.
- Provide support for both internal and external collection audits.
- Collections Platform Optimization: Contribute to the ongoing optimization of our collections platform.
Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge
- RBI Guidelines: Good understanding of RBI regulations on Fair Practices Code (FPC) for Partners, outsourcing guidelines, and recovery agent codes of conduct.
- Digital Lending Regulations: Familiarity with RBI's Digital Lending Guidelines, specifically concerning customer data protection and collections transparency.
- Legal Recovery Frameworks: Thorough knowledge of recovery tools such as Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, and the Payment and Settlement Systems Act (for e-NACH/ECS failures).
- Data Privacy: Understanding of data privacy practices to ensure vendor onboarding and platform integrations securely handle borrower information.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of Legal Collections experience within Indian Banks or NBFCs.
- Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in law.
- Skills: Strong understanding of legal frameworks governing debt collection in India, vendor management compliance, and contractual obligations.
- Analytical & Presentation Skills: Good analytics and presentation skills. Knowledge of excel, google sheets, Pivots, PowerPoint & Google slides is preferable.
