The Role & Responsibilities:

The Honest Co is seeking a strong, Senior Data and Content Strategist to join our eCommerce team. This role is key to Honest’s success in the digital space and is built for someone who is a self-starter, enjoys tackling complex problems, is organized, and looking to have a major impact in fostering The Honest Co’s “digital first” mindset.

The Senior Data & Content Strategist will play a crucial role in driving digital content execution across the .com marketplaces, with a primary focus on Amazon. Working closely with the VP of eCommerce and the Amazon National Account Manager, the Senior Data & Content Strategist will collaborate on the ongoing optimization of The Honest Company’s online presence, improving organic search and traffic rankings and maximizing conversion. The focus will be on digital content performance – developing a learning agenda and setting KPI’s, designing and executing A/B tests, and working to drive efficiencies in our content development process.

This person should have proven analytical capabilities, strong SEO and optimization experience, and a passion for testing and reporting on content that resonates with the consumer. This individual will be responsible for driving organic sales on Amazon, improving keyword ranking, increasing overall conversion rate, improving the quality of product listings, and helping to launch products on time. They should have a strong bias for action, the ability to make data driven decisions, excel with a high level of autonomy and desire to leverage and share learnings on 1P tools, AI integration in search, and market wide content strategies with the broader ecommerce team.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

OMNI:

  • Managing, auditing, & tracking eContent including owning eContent changes and uploads for current and new items
  • Work closely with the Creative and Brand teams to develop the digital content strategy and the development of assets (including copy), ensuring content aligns with overall company initiatives while also optimizing for channel specific needs and online shopping behaviors 
  • Incorporate consumer reviews and questions into content development recommendations and socialize insights with the broader organization
  • Review competitor brands to assess areas of opportunity and merchandising tactics
  • Develop a gap/opportunity analysis of our existing digital content performance and set KPI’s that ladder up to our broader business growth goals
  • Track and monitor content performance, prepare monthly scorecard, provide actionable insights, and suggest improvements based on findings
  • Digital Shelf: responsible for the ongoing maintenance and updates of CommerceIQ. Leverage the platform for setting scorecard thresholds and KPI’s, monitoring content performance, maintaining the SOT, content auditing, competitor activity, and marketplace insights

AMAZON-SPECIFIC:

  • Lead onsite audits, tracking and critical issues of Amazon retail web pages for Honest products. Collaborate with the team on recommended changes and updates
  • Personally manage the content in Amazon Vendor Central as well as within the syndication platform
  • Lead superior retail execution of key demand driving activities from alignment to analysis. Includes maintaining calendar of merchandising/promotional activities, submitting merchandising/promotional activities in Amazon's system, and auditing on-site execution
  • Designing and executing digital coupons, including consulting with brand and sales teams on coupon strategy, setting up coupons in internal and external systems, and tracking historical executions to aid in post event return on investment analysis and inform future strategies
  • Executing and reporting on SnS metrics
  • Support in establishing the variation strategy of product assortment
  • Partner with Product Supply team and Amazon to complete forecasting and order generation for new item launches and demand driving events
  • Co-own the launch of new products; evaluate and define best in class go-to-market requirements
  • Responsible for the execution and ongoing maintenance of product pages and the brand stores; continual optimization will require a strong bias for action with top products to be optimized monthly
  • Work cross-functionally to gather copy/assets for on site features and item specs for set-up templates
  • Develop module recommendations for A+ Content; co-own enhanced content alongside Creative
  • Maintain the merchandising calendar and execute brand store posts and social requests in alignment with the overarching brand calendars for a holistic customer journey
  • Monthly review of brand store analytics and competitor storefronts for shopper journey insights
  • Foster relationships with the Amazon team; work congruently with the National Account Manager on content troubleshooting and request quarterly IDQ and hidden keywords reports
  • Set IDQ targets and perform regular audits to ensure we are hitting and/or exceeding score
  • Consistent audit of CPF and Brand Registry landing pages to ensure brand visibility and share
  • Leverage SKAI and Vendor Central for SOV insights and behavior reports to identify and track critical keywords that drive sales; execute changes to improve keyword ranking and organic search
  • Align eCommerce content with digital media strategy, leveraging audience insights to tailor content development to target audiences

  • Operational Discipline: Has superior organizational and communication skills, with the ability to lead large sets of data, multiple projects, handle timelines, and produce high-quality results.
  • Collaboration: Working seamlessly with multiple partners internally across functions at The Honest Co, and also externally with agency and our retail partners.
  • Data & Analytics: Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, ability to manipulate data from multiple sources, and understanding of digital metrics.
  • Analytics: Competency in developing business/category knowledge, and ability to turn analytics and data into insights.
  • Prior experience in data administration in a professional setting preferred or have demonstrably strong technical skills and high aptitude for learning new software/systems.
  • Demonstrates personal leadership, problem solving skills, accountability and ownership of defined work processes and projects while working independently to deliver expected results.

What you’ll need:

  • 8-10 years of professional experience, including 3-5 years in Amazon and/or eCommerce (Vendor Central required)
  • 3-5 years of CPG experience preferred, not required
  • Familiarity with Amazon marketing capabilities as well as other brick-and-click retailers (WMT.com, TGT.com)
  • Familiarity with content management systems (Syndigo, Salsify) and DAM platforms
  • Familiarity with US retailer merchandising and content needs and an understanding of digital principles to drive traffic and conversion
  • Strong proficiency in AMC, DSP, and efficiency in reading and acting on KPI’s
  • Strong proficiency in navigating complex data and technology database systems and skills with Microsoft Excel 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify both short- and long-range growth opportunities based on in-depth understanding of both company and customer strategies
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to convert data into actionable insights
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and to the appropriate audience level
  • Demonstrated success in building trust with external partners
  • Must be proactive, adaptable, and able to take initiative while working in a fast-paced team

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. 

The total rewards package for this position may also include base, annual incentive plan, benefits, retirement plan, equity, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
