Pathology Administrator- Mason, OH
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pathology Administrator to oversee the daily administrative and operational functions of our pathology department. This role is critical in ensuring efficient coordination among pathologists, laboratory personnel, and administrative leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a commitment to regulatory compliance, and the ability to manage complex workflows within a healthcare environment.
Essential Functions:
To perform effectively in this role, the candidate must fulfill the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Accurately and promptly enter pathology case data into the laboratory information system (LIS)
- Transcribe pathology reports and other medical documentation with precision and attention to detail
- Maintain and organize pathology slides and tissue blocks in compliance with departmental protocols and regulatory guidelines
- Support day-to-day departmental operations by performing various administrative and operational tasks as directed by leadership
- Coordinate the shipment of pathology slides and blocks for second opinions, and ensure timely return
- Transcribe second opinion letters for review by pathologists
- Manage the full cycle of send-outs, including tracking and follow-up
- Coordinate with couriers for specimen transportation
- Distribute finalized pathology reports to appropriate physicians
- Prepare slides, reports, and related paperwork for review
Compliance and Confidentiality:
- Adhere to HIPAA and all applicable local regulations to safeguard patient information
- Ensure that all documentation complies with medical, legal, and regulatory standards
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 0–1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare or medical office setting.
- Proficiency in practice management software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
