Payroll Specialist - Franklin, TN
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist, under the direction of the Payroll Director, helps to pay employees and compile payroll information by preparing payroll information, completing reports, and maintaining records.
Hybrid Schedule: In office Monday - Wednesday and remote on Thursday and Friday!
Hourly Pay Range: $23.00 - $24.00
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Prepare multi-state payroll for employees by working with the Payroll Director to produce and issue paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts on a multi-pay frequency basis. Take the lead in processing payroll when needed.
- Serve as a UKG Pro and Workforce Management subject matter expert to employees for all needs related to Payroll and Time and Attendance.
- Calculate retro payments, prorated salaries, and manual check payments as needed.
- Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
- Assist in quarter and year-end processes to ensure accurate reporting.
- Administer garnishments and answer related questions.
- Manage vacation/sick/PTO tracking and reporting.
- Answer questions and other requests in a timely manner for all payroll, timekeeping, and tax related matters.
- Assist in providing information for workers comp, 401k, and annual audits, as needed.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Three to five years of progressive experience is required.
- Knowledge of UKG Pro and Workforce Management and Enhanced Timekeeping strongly preferred.
- Microsoft Excel experience preferred.
- Multi-State Payroll experience
- State/Federal Tax experience
