The Role

Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF) is hiring a Sr. Quality Control Specialist to join our production team. The main responsibility of the Quality Specialist is to maintain and guarantee quality standards by inspecting and approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products as well as recording quality results and leading documentation efforts. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are necessary for success at PFF. This is a fully in person role based in Charlestown and will report directly to the Sr.Manager, Operations Strategy and Quality. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to peers regarding quality practices, interpretation and development of company quality assurance policies, problem resolution, and compliance with federal and state laws
  • Approve incoming material by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning out of spec materials and advising on communication with supplier. 
  • Experience inspecting and testing mechanical and electrical parts. Including knowledge of JSTD circuitry specifications.
  • Complete First Article Inspection (FAI) on all new designs or reviews and audit suppliers FAI for accuracy
  • Approve in-process production quality by confirming specifications an/or developing them; conducting visual and measurement tests; collaborating with and communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approve finished product quality by confirming specifications and/or developing them; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into a quality database.
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) for disposition of non-confirming material and drive action from cross-functional departments including: mechanical, Electrical, and software engineering
  • Review and sign Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for part and process changes for the Quality Department; ensure change definition is complete and evaluate how it could impact product quality; reject ECOs if needed and communicate require improvements  
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs and implementing a schedule for tool & fixture calibration checks
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Accomplish quality and organizational mission by completing related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in related field or High School Diploma preferred
  • 2-4 years experience in a manufacturing environment either as engineer, inspector or assembler
  • 1-3 years experience as a manager or team lead 
  • Experience with mechanical engineering drawings and PCBA schematics 
  • Experience in an electro-mechanical environment with knowledge of JSTD is a plus
  • Experience with metrology hand tools, i.e. micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.
  • Experience with visual inspection tools is a plus, e.g. microscope, comparator, etc.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite, Tulip(MES software), AutoDesk Inventor/ Fusion/ Vault or Jira/ confluence 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills (google suite and Microsoft 365)
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software tools like AutoDesk Inventor + Vault 
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Specific technical or vocational training or certification may be required; e.g. FARO arm training 
  • Quality experience preferred
