SENIOR INTEGRATION ENGINEER

About Us:

Our mission is to empower manufacturers with real-time insights, streamlined operations, and enhanced productivity through tailored integration solutions. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Integrations to lead our integrations team and drive the development of robust frameworks and best practices.

What We Are Looking For:
The primary role of the Device Integrations team is to develop and maintain Pico’s plug-and-play device library with myriad connected equipment utilized in today’s factories. This includes everything from USB barcode scanners, torque tools, measurement equipment, and custom end-of-line testers. You can get a sneak peek here: https://www.picomes.com/tools. The role also includes 25-50% time providing customer support and system-level troubleshooting. Not only will you have a broad experience working with many different protocols, libraries, and specifications, you’ll also learn an in-depth understanding of Pico’s system architecture including the web application, IoT infrastructure, networking, server architecture and more.

What You’ll Do:

  • Research and integrate customer equipment utilizing Node.js, python, and other languages (as needed).
  • Maintain and improve Pico’s hardware and software powered by Raspberry Pi.
  • Develop custom parsing scripts to analyze log files, captured machine data, and other custom integrations based on customer requests.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of software releases and system upgrades, ensuring that integration solutions are updated and tested as necessary.
  • In the event of an issue, quickly jump into a server or Pico Hub, assess the situation, and recommend/fix next steps to address the customer’s needs
  • Receive customer and roadmap requests for new devices/tools that need to be integrated with the MES.
  • Review data sheets and protocol specs and develop software in Node.js, Python, or other languages to bring these tools into Pico.
  • Diagnose issues at customer deployments ranging from tool communication issues all the way up to network issues.
  • Navigate complex deployments and compile bug reports to share with the rest of the engineering team.
  • Support testing and feature validation to ensure smooth and seamless deployments.

Who You are:

  • 5-7 + years experience developing software in Python, Node.js, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with bash, databases, various communication protocols and working from a terminal. Protocols include Serial, Ethernet IP, Modbus, HTTP, and more.
  • Experience with basic lab equipment like a multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering.
  • An innate curiosity and interest in bringing new equipment and features into the digital connected world.
  • Familiar with our frontend and backend systems written in React and Go
  • Familiarity with firmware development for embedded projects
  • Aim to have fun building a product that delights, surprises, and makes our customers (and ourselves) very happy - Always try to deliver magic in a box!
  • Basic circuit knowledge
  • Demonstrated history of working to bring new electronic hardware and firmware to such industries as automotive, consumer electronics, and manufacturing as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in software integration, hardware, system architecture, or related roles, with a strong focus on manufacturing systems.
  • Proven experience leading and managing integration teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of hardware integration processes, including experience with manufacturing equipment and IoT devices.
  • Strong proficiency in Go and React for developing integrations and user interfaces.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their application in manufacturing contexts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers developing an IoT and data collection platform connected to industrial tools
  • Experience leading customer support and managing all customer deployments both cloud and on-prem.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
