Job Title: Redline Sales Engineer

Purpose of the role
Pico is currently seeking candidates for a Sales Engineer position which specializes in Redline products. A Redline Sales Engineer has a thorough understanding of all existing and in-development Redline products and services in addition to the competitive landscape; s/he must also have strong customer focus, attention to detail, outstanding oral / written communication skills, and will thrive within a fast-paced and, at times, demanding environment. This position will cater to Pico’s EMEA business and will interact directly with sophisticated microsecond sensitive trading firms in addition to internal sales, account management, product management, and development staff.
The Sales Engineer will adopt existing internal Redline Field Engineering processes to create client specific designs for implementation. Work with other Field Engineering Teams on bespoke client solutions as they arise, identify product requirements and translate them to technical requirements for the engineering team.
Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)
- Develop in-depth knowledge of all of Pico’s Redline products and services including market data feed handler, execution gateway, normalization and remote distribution, market simulation, pre-trade risk etc.
- Develop detailed understanding of Redline’s C and Java APIs, existing example applications, various debugging and troubleshooting techniques.
- Work closely with clients and prospects to understand/interpret technology requirements and collaboratively design, recommend, and document individual technology solutions
- Lead whiteboard sessions and actively participate in presentations
- Design software solutions meeting requirements for low latency, high availability, and scalability
- Provide feedback into the Product Management team to pass along requirements that will influence roadmaps and future design considerations
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of industry leading financial technology solution providers and the competitive landscape,
- Interact with prospects at all levels up to C-suite; build and maintain relationships
- Craft detailed solution diagrams
- Provide technical support for proof-of-concepts and implementations, identifying and resolving challenges and escalating as required
- Work with Redline Engineering teams to design/engineer non-standard elements of a given solution
- Be able to articulate how software components fit into the bigger picture to help the customer achieve their business goals
- Interpret key themes and common customer pain points, propose solutions that appeal to wider customer base
- Participate in thorough knowledge-share hand-offs of newly won opportunities to account management and service delivery teams
- Assist in pushing deals over the finish line by building trust and rapport with other technical stakeholders inside a client account.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in C and Java programming
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, shell
- Good understanding of databases and SQL programming
- Understanding of Cloud Technology platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google
- Knowledgeable in networking concepts, TCP vs. UDP, Unicast vs. Mutlicast etc.
Education, Skills and background (incl. Education and Experience Requirements)
- Ideally Computer Science or equivalent educational background
- General understanding of the financial markets
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and take direction
- Cultivate an agile ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think on your feet
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite – Excel, PowerPoint and Visio in particular
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and interact with all levels of management, self-starter
- Team player
- Energetic, enthusiastic and organized
- Experience with Salesforce.com, JIRA, and Confluence
Working Arrangements
This is a Hybrid position with weekly time in the office with the flexibility of working from home. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions/geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC).
