Contract Analyst, Product Line Management

Argentina

Contract Position

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina (Remote)
Reports To: Director of Corporate Underwriting
Employment Type: 12-month contract with possibility of extension

Pie's mission is to empower small businesses to thrive by making commercial insurance affordable and as easy as pie. We leverage technology to transform how small businesses buy and experience commercial insurance.

Like our small business customers, we are a diverse team of builders, dreamers, and entrepreneurs who are driven by core values and operating principles that guide every decision we make.

Reporting to our Director of Corporate Underwriting, the Product Line Management Analyst supports the insurance product management function by developing data-driven insights that inform product strategy, automated decisioning design, and portfolio performance management. Working closely with the Product Managers who support our insurance products, this role is responsible for monitoring portfolio health, analyzing the performance of automated underwriting systems, conducting competitive market research, and supporting regulatory filing processes. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to investigate complex data to uncover root causes and communicate evidence-based narratives, with a willingness to develop expertise in commercial insurance products.

How You'll Do It

Portfolio Monitoring & Data Analysis:

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Looker that track key performance indicators across our insurance portfolios, including growth, retention, profitability, and exposure trends.
  • Extract, manipulate, and analyze data from internal databases to identify emerging trends, areas of concern, and growth opportunities.
  • Investigate data discrepancies and metric anomalies across systems and teams, tracing issues to their root cause and recommending resolution — whether the issue is definitional, systemic, or operational.
  • Prepare portfolio performance summaries for Product Managers and Director-level review.
  • Perform reasonability checks and data validation to ensure accuracy of reporting outputs.

Automated Decisioning System Analysis & Testing:

  • Analyze the performance of automated underwriting rules and decisioning logic to assess their impact on submission flow, approval rates, and risk selection quality.
  • Approach analytical questions with intellectual rigor - forming hypotheses, testing them against available data, and distinguishing between what the data confirms and what remains inference.
  • Support Product Managers in testing and validating changes to automated underwriting systems before and after deployment.
  • Quantify the impact of proposed rule changes through data modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation efficiency and reduce manual underwriting intervention.

Competitive Rate Analysis & Market Research:

  • Use ISO tools, competitor rate filings, and industry data sources to compare Pie's pricing position against the market across key segments and states.
  • Analyze funnel metrics to identify underserved markets, industries, or geographies with growth potential.
  • Monitor marketplace dynamics and competitor behavior to inform product strategy recommendations.
  • Support economic modeling to ensure pricing structures meet distribution channel requirements.

Regulatory & Filing Support:

  • Assist Product Managers in preparing rate, rule, and form change documentation for state regulatory filings.
  • Help track filing status and manage the implementation timeline for approved changes within the policy management system.
  • Organize and maintain documentation related to state-specific product requirements and compliance guidelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Pricing & Analytics team to align on data definitions, methodologies, and shared reporting needs.
  • Partner with the Quality & Training Manager to provide data and analysis that supports audit findings and training program design.
  • Support ad hoc analytical requests related to strategic initiatives.

The Right Stuff

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or 2+ years' experience in a quantitative analytics role.
  • 2+ years of analytical work experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or insurance operations.
  • P&C insurance industry experience is preferred, particularly in underwriting, product, or pricing but not required if you bring strong analytical fundamentals and genuine interest in learning the domain.
  • Proven ability to ramp into unfamiliar business domains through structured self-directed learning - understanding the core business model, mapping the systems and data landscape, and building expertise incrementally.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel required; SQL and Snowflake proficiency required.
  • Experience with navigating BI/dashboard tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate data discrepancies and shifting metrics with intellectual curiosity - moving beyond surface-level reporting to uncover root causes, test competing hypotheses, and communicate clear, evidence-based narratives to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, self-directed, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with comfort collaborating via Slack, Google Workspace, and video.
  • Ability to work effectively during US business hours on a consistent basis.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, globally distributed environment.
  • Experience with advanced data analysis or data science techniques, such as statistical modeling, regression analysis, or predictive analytics is a plus.
  • Academic or professional project experience applying quantitative methods to solve real-world business problems.
