Contract Associate Analyst, State Product Management - Workers' Compensation

Argentina

Contract Position

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina (Remote)

Employment Type: 12-month contract with possibility of extension

Pie's mission is to empower small businesses to thrive by making commercial insurance affordable and as easy as pie. We leverage technology to transform how small businesses buy and experience commercial insurance.

Like our small business customers, we are a diverse team of builders, dreamers, and entrepreneurs who are driven by core values and operating principles that guide every decision we make.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Associate Analyst to join our State Product Management team through our International Talent Program. In this role, you will be reporting directly to an experienced US-based State Product Manager and will play a key part in monitoring and improving the performance of assigned US states within our product portfolio.

Your primary focus will be on analyzing state-level results, identifying performance trends, and helping to develop data-backed recommendations on strategic levers — such as pricing, underwriting guidelines, appetite adjustments, and profit actions — that drive top- and bottom-line outcomes. This is a developmental role built for analytically sharp candidates who are eager to grow.

How You'll Do It

State Performance Management:

  • Monitor and analyze the financial and operational performance of assigned US Workers' Compensation states, tracking key metrics such as loss ratio, premium growth, retention, exposure trends, and profitability.
  • Identify emerging trends, performance gaps, and opportunities across assigned states and surface insights to the Product Manager in a clear, actionable format.
  • Support the development of state-level business reviews and performance reporting packages used to inform leadership decisions.

Strategic Analysis & Recommendations:

  • Build and maintain analytical models and reports to evaluate the impact of strategic levers including rate changes, underwriting guideline adjustments, product appetite shifts, and competitive positioning.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on state performance drivers — separating frequency, severity trends, loss ratio performance, mix shift, competitor actions, and other factors — to support well-reasoned product recommendations.
  • Help prepare materials and data-driven recommendations for state strategy discussions, including proposed actions to improve profitability or accelerate growth in target states.
  • Track the effectiveness of implemented strategies over time and provide ongoing performance feedback loops to inform future decisions.

Data Query & Analysis:

  • Write and execute data queries (SQL or equivalent) to extract, transform, and analyze large insurance data sets including production, premium, loss, exposure, rate, and retention data.
  • Develop dashboards and automated reporting tools to enable consistent, efficient state performance monitoring.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all analytical outputs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with business development, data science, actuarial, underwriting, regulatory & compliance, and technology teams on state-specific product initiatives and analyses.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the US-based Product Manager and broader team, operating on US business hours.
  • Contribute to process improvements that increase the speed and quality of state performance insights.

Learning & Development:

  • Progressively build expertise in US Workers' Compensation State Product Management, regulatory frameworks, and state-specific market dynamics.
  • Take on increasing ownership of state performance analysis and strategic recommendations as knowledge and skills develop.

The Right Stuff

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or 2+ years' experience in a quantitative analytics role.
  • Experience in insurance, actuarial science, or a related financial services field is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in data querying and analysis — intermediate to advanced SQL experience is required, including the ability to write queries independently from scratch.
  • Experience with Snowflake preferred — candidates with comparable experience in MS SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, or Redshift are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with Looker preferred; candidates with comparable experience in Tableau or Power BI are encouraged to apply. Experience with Python or R is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations for business stakeholders.
  • C1/C2 English required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to build compelling analytical narratives.
  • Ability to work effectively during US business hours on a consistent basis.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, globally distributed environment.
  • Experience with advanced data analysis or data science techniques, such as statistical modeling, regression analysis, or predictive analytics is a plus.
  • Academic or professional project experience applying quantitative methods to solve real-world business problems.
