About the Role

As the Funding Specialist, you will work closely with the Finance and the Underwriting team to manage the daily transactions for our Residential Mortgage division, including reconciling daily trust activity and preparing bank reconciliations. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be liaising with our Underwriting, Fulfillment and Operations teams to ensure our funded mortgages close smoothly. You will coordinate the funding process among our external partners for underwriting, funding, and servicing to ensure that deals close on time. The closing process is critical to our success in delivering a great experience to our customers. You will be responsible for taking us the last mile to ensure that we deliver and delight our customers.  

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… 

  • Ensure that we are prepared to close deals by monitoring deals in the fulfillment stage to ensure that we have collected all the outstanding conditions in a timely manner. 
  • Reconcile daily offering report (loans in pipeline) with our external partners.
  • Closely monitor the closing process for  deals and  follow up to ensure that there are no title defects, the payout is ordered in a timely manner and receipt of payout from the other financial institution, as well as the signing package is completed.
  • Update trial balance (loans being serviced).
  • Ensure that deals are funded successfully on the scheduled closing date via coordination with FNF and/or the solicitor.
  • Manage payment reporting requirements from our partners.
  • Provide daily remittances for P&I payments.

We’re excited about you because of your… 

Completion of a post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in accounting and/or residential mortgage funding administration.  **Bonus points if you are already performing this role somewhere else. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Detailed oriented and on top of the small things.
  • Clear and confident communicator both written and verbal. 
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and different parties.
  • Comfortable dealing with time pressure and meeting deadlines. 
  • Ownership mentality, self-starting nature and passion for your work.
