Senior Quality Engineer - Platform UI
About Ping Identity:
At Ping Identity, we believe in making digital experiences both secure and seamless for all users, without compromise. We call this digital freedom. And it's not just something we provide our customers. It's something that inspires our company. People don't come here to join a culture that's built on digital freedom. They come to cultivate it.
Our intelligent, cloud identity platform lets people shop, work, bank, and interact wherever and however they want. Without friction. Without fear.
While protecting digital identities is at the core of our technology, protecting individual identities is at the core of our culture. We champion every identity. One of our core values, Respect Individuality, reminds us to celebrate differences so you are empowered to bring your authentic self to work.
We're headquartered in Denver, Colorado and we have offices and employees around the globe. We serve the largest, most demanding enterprises worldwide, including more than half of the Fortune 100. At Ping Identity, we're changing the way people and businesses think about cybersecurity, digital experiences, and identity and access management.
We’re looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to lead automation strategy, elevate UI quality across multiple product teams, and help define how we validate shared components at scale. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role — one that blends deep technical skill with strong product intuition and an appreciation for accessibility, performance, and enterprise reliability.
You’ll design and evolve our Cypress automation frameworks, lead BDD practices through well-crafted Gherkin scenarios, and partner closely with engineering, product, and UX to ensure our platform-level UI is robust, accessible, and future-ready.
If you thrive on building scalable automation, enjoy working across cross-functional teams, and see quality as a shared engineering discipline — not a phase — we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do:
- Own and evolve the automation strategy for the Platform UI, with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and best-in-class engineering practices
- Lead the adoption of Gherkin (BDD) across teams, ensuring scenarios are expressive, reusable, and aligned with product expectations
- Architect, build, and maintain Cypress test suites, improving reliability, performance, and developer experience
- Drive quality earlier in the lifecycle by participating in design discussions, reviewing developer-authored test strategies, and advocating for testability in component architecture
- Collaborate deeply with UX and product to validate user journeys, accessibility expectations, and real-world usage patterns
- Establish and refine standards for cross-browser, responsive, and visual regression testing across the shared UI
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, optimizing execution speed, debugging flaky tests, and improving observability through metrics and reporting
- Lead exploratory testing efforts for high-impact changes and platform-wide initiatives
- Mentor engineers and QEs across teams on automation design, accessibility, and quality best practices
- Influence broader engineering practices through documentation, tooling improvements, and cross-team technical leadership
What You Bring:
- 7+ years of experience validating production-scale web applications, including automation-heavy environments
- Deep hands-on experience with Cypress and JavaScript (TypeScript familiarity a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of React or other modern front-end frameworks, including testability considerations for reusable component libraries
- Demonstrated experience writing and reviewing Gherkin (Given/When/Then) scenarios and leading BDD workflows across teams
- Experience designing scalable automation frameworks and improving test architecture over time
- Solid understanding of accessibility testing (WCAG 2.1+, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management) and experience using tooling such as axe-core, Lighthouse, or Storybook accessibility add-ons
- Experience implementing automated testing in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent)
- Strong fundamentals in API testing, cross-browser validation, and performance considerations
- Clear communicator with the ability to influence and mentor engineers at all levels
- Comfortable working in distributed, cross-functional teams in an agile environment
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience with visual regression testing tools (Percy, Storybook, Applitools, etc.)
- Familiarity with accessibility tooling such as axe-core or pa11y
- Experience with BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or other cross-browser/cloud automation platforms
- Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and identity management concepts
- Experience working within globally distributed teams
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum Methodologies
- Experience with application security practices (OWASP Top 10)
- Experience with systems at scale, Docker, or Kubernetes
Why Should You Join Us?
- To be part of an outstanding team and work with exceptional people
- Build automation and quality practices that directly influence enterprise-scale identity systems
- Work with the latest tooling and frameworks to solve real-world challenges in security, accessibility, and UI engineering
- Play a defining role in the evolution of our developer and customer experience — your work directly elevates usability, consistency, and trust
- Join a mission-driven company focused on secure digital identity for millions of users around the world
Salary Range: $85,000-$110,000
