Your mission at Pinwheel

Build a world-class recruiting strategy, process & engine that not only fills roles fast, but also attracts, closes, and retains truly top 1% elite talent that raises the bar for Pinwheel. Their legacy will be constructing long-term hiring systems, brand, and philosophy that position Pinwheel as a destination for high-agency, high-caliber talent.

Your expected deliverables

30 Days

  • Fill at least 1 open role with bar-raising talent.
  • Move at least 2 other roles to offer stage.
  • Launch a Recruiting Dashboard that tracks key KPIs (e.g., time-to-hire, pass-through rates, pipeline velocity), with weekly reporting to key stakeholders.

60 Days

  • Fill at least 5 open roles with bar-raising talent.
  • Deliver 1st draft of updated interview process in partnership with CEO.
  • Deliver 1st draft of a revamped Employer Brand strategy.

3 Months

  • Reduce average time-to-hire to under 45 days across all open roles.
  • Implement updated interview process in partnership with CEO.
  • Implement revamped Employer Brand strategy.

6 Months

  • Achieve consistent time-to-hire under 35 days on average.
  • Built fully scaled solution that enables time to hire targets as well as candidate NPS above 80.
  • Inbound leads represents at least 20% of quality pipeline.

12 Months

  • Maintain time-to-hire under 30-35 days on average.
  • Candidate and hiring managers NPS is above 90.
  • % of new team members in top quartile of team performance is 75% or higher.

What you’ll need to be successful here

  1. You know what great looks like
    • You have a deeply calibrated bar for top 1% startup-caliber talent
    • You are skilled at designing working exercises with HMs to properly vet for targeted skills and competencies
    • You know where the pockets of elite talent are beyond the usual brand names (e.g. certain startups in the market or classes at a specific school)
  2. You are a world-class recruiting system builder and operator
    • You know how to build a world-class hiring process from the ground up that includes exceptional rigor but also minimizes time to hire
    • You have a strong understanding of data including what metrics are considered benchmarks and how to solve problems at each step of the funnel
    • You are gifted at working with HMs to help translate their talent needs into an exceptional interview process and instill discipline amongst stakeholders
    • You think holistically about org design, resourcing constraints, and talent roadmap—not just filling seats, but shaping the team to meet evolving company priorities
  3. You have the necessary mentality and skills to win
    • You are known amongst your friends as someone who is relentless in your pursuit of your goals and equally resourceful in achieving them, often finding the clever, non-obvious solution to any given problem
    • You thrive in situations where the answer is unclear, things aren’t working right, and the path to achieving success seems really hard because you take pride in overcoming hard things
    • You are able to quickly synthesize a lot of information and data and come up with an action plan to direct yourself and those around you to success
    • You regularly spend time figuring out how to improve yourself and your skills in your personal pursuit of greatness, however you define it
    • Whenever you encounter a problem, you dig unreasonably deep to figure out the underlying root causes and mechanics before you move towards a solution

At Pinwheel, total compensation is made up of salary + equity + benefits. We recruit motivated and high performing talent, and work to compensate people in line with the value they can bring to the organization in delivering outsized results. The talent market is competitive, and maintaining our ability to recruit and retain the best team possible is a top priority for Pinwheel. When creating an offer, we consider interview performance, candidate experience, external market competitiveness, and internal equity in thoughtfully assessing compensation. The expected salary range for this role is $185,000 - $220,000 base salary.
