Computer Technician
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Pioneering Evolution is seeking a motivated and skilled Computer Technician to provide technical support and system maintenance for Department of Defense (DoD) environments. Based in Panama City, Florida, the Computer Technician will be responsible for configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software systems, as well as providing on-site and remote support to end users. This position requires the ability to travel to DoD sites across the continental United States, often in support of fielding efforts, upgrades, or technical troubleshooting. A strong understanding of computer systems, networking basics, and DoD IT compliance is essential. This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop systems, peripherals, and software in accordance with DoD standards.
- Provide Tier I/II technical support for hardware and software issues both locally and remotely.
- Travel to DoD sites to support system deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting (up to 30% travel).
- Perform imaging, patching, and software updates to ensure system security and functionality.
- Maintain detailed asset records, inventory, and documentation of all systems and equipment.
- Work closely with engineers and program managers to support project milestones and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and assist with system accreditation requirements.
- Conduct user training and provide clear technical instructions to end users in person and over the phone.
- Support incident response, diagnostics, and resolution in accordance with SLAs.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- 2–4 years of experience in a hands-on technical support or computer technician role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems, imaging tools (e.g., MDT, Clonezilla), and standard office software.
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience with DoD systems or working in a secured IT environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30% to DoD installations and facilities across the U.S.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel on short notice.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- CompTIA certifications such as A+, Security+, or Network+.
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and remote management tools.
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements and RMF processes.
- Experience working in support of Navy, Marine Corps, or other DoD programs.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Jira, Remedy, or ServiceNow.
