Pirates Wanted: Executive Producer

Every ecommerce business deserves the cheapest shipping rates. That’s why Pirate Ship’s simple shipping software levels the playing field for small businesses, giving them free access to the deepest shipping discounts with no fees or hidden costs. We’re currently on the lookout for exceptional pirates to join our crew as an Executive Producer.

The Executive Producer in our in-house creative department is the captain of the ship when it comes to making ambitious ideas real. You’ve stood on deck as the sole or lead producer through rough seas and tight turnarounds, with a steady hand on budgets, schedules, and crews. You know the minutiae of production because you’ve lived it—call sheets, permits, last-minute talent swaps, and weather calls included—and you bring calm authority to every set. Your job is to chart a course from creative vision to final delivery, keeping the crew aligned and the cargo on time and on budget.

But this role isn’t just about today’s voyage—it’s about plotting the map for the fleet. As Executive Producer, you work across departments to plan long-term production strategy, balance resources, and build systems that scale as the brand grows. You partner with creative, marketing, legal, and operations to anticipate what’s coming over the horizon, mentor the next generation of producers, and ensure the production engine runs smoothly no matter how choppy the waters get. You sweat the details, see the big picture, and make sure every journey strengthens the brand’s flag.

Pirate Ship is a remote-first company, and like any jolly crew of pirates we operate in a casual and creative atmosphere, where everyone’s ideas are welcome and having fun is encouraged. We offer competitive pay, exceptional benefits, and the opportunity to tell people you’re a pirate when they ask what you do. As Steve Jobs said, “It’s more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy!”

Responsibilities:

  • Swab the decks: Own end-to-end production across video, photo, audio, and emerging formats—from greenlight through final delivery.
  • Sail the Seven Seas: Build, evolve, and enforce production workflows, templates, and standards that scale with the business.
  • Chart a course: Lead all production for the in-house creative department, overseeing concepts from concept through delivery.
  • Aft rigging: Own production budgets across projects and campaigns; forecast spend, track actuals, and identify efficiencies without sacrificing quality.
  • Scoping: Understand project goals, discover & communicate options; and if needed, procure and work with the right additional talent to effectively complete projects.
  • Batten down the hatches: Create clarity around roles, approvals, timelines, and handoffs to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Codify the process: Create a replicable workflow that helps get new videos live quickly.
  • Bottle your messages: Master the pirate tonality that makes communicating fun & fresh.
  • Support your crew: Work with a top team of creatives to create a cohesive voice across all channels.
  • Shiver the timbers: Delight the world with fun videos that let creativity shine.
  • Keep it shipshape: Use your high standards of excellence to enhance the brand’s image.
  • Hoist the sails: Create a replicable workflow to get new videos online quickly.
  • Fill the cannons: Our creative advertising efforts need your powder to explode.
  • Man the cannons: Make our story the most compelling on the high seas.
  • Gather round the grog: Collaborate with the creative team to execute visual ideas.
  • Scuttle the competition: Produce videos that keep competitors awake at night.
  • Ride the seas of change: You’re comfortable in a remote environment where there’s lots of change.
  • Sail from your port o’ call: You’re able to work from home and connect with your crewmates throughout the day over chat, voice, and video through company provided equipment. Quarterly in-person meetings at varied locations.
  • Hoist the Jolly Roger: Share your experience, expertise and interest with the crew to enhance our fun and progressive culture.
  • At this time we are only accepting applicants in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of production experience.
  • Experience building and scaling production systems, workflows, and teams within an in-house creative environment.

  • Deep, hands-on understanding of end-to-end production, including budgeting, scheduling, crew management, permits, contracts, and post-production workflows.

  • Clarity, Not Confusion - Confusion is tyranny. Clarity is freedom. We strive to make things easy to understand and tackle real needs for our customers.
  • Play or Perish - A life without laughter isn’t worth living. Why should that be any different in business?

Our Values Reflect Who We ARRrrr:

  • Be Fair - Accessible to everyone, so no one’s left out.
  • Be Nice - Empathy, humanity, and humor go a long way.
  • Be Real - Be reliable and back up the pirate talk.

We work to ensure our company is a safe and supportive environment for everyone. As our crew continues to grow rapidly, we want to do all we can to create an environment where everyone can feel included.

How we do this:

  • We pay well and offer world-class health benefits so you can focus on being a balanced pirate!

  • We don’t shy away from hard conversations. Building a better world takes constant feedback, conversations and hard work!
  • We do engagement surveys twice a year to constantly iterate our policies and procedures.
  • We acknowledge the identities and experiences of everyone.
