Our Institutional Research Group is looking for an experienced analyst to lead our coverage of Healthcare Services and Healthtech, while also acting as a team lead for our broader Healthcare and Life Sciences coverage. As a valued team member, you’ll hone your management and analytical skills, develop meaningful insight into a fascinating industry, and contribute to our best-in-class private capital research. The research this team produces is highly differentiated in the market and utilized by many of the largest private capital investors, investment banks, and service providers globally. Our team is creative, driven, and focused on providing the most actionable research to our readers and clients.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Drive PitchBook’s private market healthcare coverage, which leverages our proprietary data to track venture capital and private equity deal activity, market trends, and product innovation
- Leverage your knowledge of Healthcare Services and Healthtech to publish quarterly updates and other research focused on this industry
- Lead a team of analysts covering various aspects of the healthcare industry, including biotech and medtech
- Work to ensure PitchBook’s healthcare coverage remains aligned with overall corporate objectives and organizational strategies
- Help develop analysts on the healthcare team, including mentorship, editing research, providing feedback and direction, and ensuring the team has the resources it needs to succeed
- Ensure existing research processes related to publication and distribution are maintained and improved when needed to help the team scale and improve efficiency
- Spearhead efforts to develop new proprietary research, which could include utilizing proprietary data-sets or creating partnerships with other data vendors
- Act as a representative of, and an advocate for, PitchBook research externally and internally. Externally, this includes helping clients understand our research offerings, attending conferences or other speaking events and/or hosting webinars. Internally, this includes liaising across the organization, including with other research teams, sales, marketing, PR, and product development teams
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications:
- 7+ years of research experience in equity research, investment banking, venture capital, or other related financial services roles
- 3+ years experience managing employees or leading a team of analysts
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a health-related degree preferred. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as valuation techniques (DCF, comps, etc.), IRRs, asset allocations, fund benchmarks, KPIs, etc.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and an eagerness to contribute to building new products and services for a growing customer base in an emerging industry
- Strong knowledge of Healthcare Services and Healthcare IT, as well as a general understanding of the broader healthcare ecosystem
- Demonstrated experience writing investment research and regularly conversing with clients about investment opportunities
- Strong interest in and demonstrated understanding of venture capital, growth equity, and emerging technologies
- Detail oriented with an analytical mindset
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Excel proficiency
- Experience in SQL and PitchBook Platform a plus

Compensation
- Annual base salary: $170,000-$200,000
- Target annual bonus percentage: 15%
*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.
Working Conditions:
We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
