We are seeking a highly strategic, engineering‑fluent Director, Technology Business Operations to operate the Office of the EVP, Technology & Engineering and amplify the impact of our technology leadership across a global Technology organization (500+ employees). You’ll translate strategy into execution, run the operating cadence, and drive cross‑functional alignment so Product Engineering, Data Collection Technology, AI/ML, Enterprise Technology, and Technology Operations deliver reliably against company priorities. You will combine technical depth with program rigor - able to interrogate proposals, shape architecture decisions, and accelerate outcomes on the most important bets. Success looks like a predictable operating system, sharper portfolio choices, and visible improvements in delivery velocity and reliability.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Portfolio

  • Serve as a thought partner to the EVP, shaping priorities, sequencing big bets, and maintaining a transparent risk & decision log
  • Translate strategy into OKRs, KPIs, and investment theses; ensure capacity/headcount plans and budgets align to those bets
  • Lead annual and quarterly planning (OKRs, capacity, headcount) and ensure roadmaps across Technology & Engineering functions

Technical Program & Architecture Stewardship

  • Run the technical RFC process and technology review cadence; drive crisp design‑doc hygiene and decision records
  • Partner with platform/data/ML/security leaders to ensure alignment across cloud strategy, data platforms (e.g., Snowflake), AI initiatives, and engineering metrics; elevate trade‑offs to the EVP when needed
  • Lead build‑vs‑buy with TCO/ROI, risk, and vendor diligence (with Security/Legal); oversee platform migrations and critical technical partnerships
  • Champion engineering health metrics (SLIs/SLOs, DORA, SPACE) and ensure telemetry informs resourcing and priority calls

Operating System & Business Rhythm

  • Build and run the cadence: weekly staff, technical deep dives, QBRs, leadership offsites; ensure agendas, narratives, and pre‑reads produce decisions
  • Improve mechanisms that increase visibility, predictability, and accountability (dashboards, scorecards, postmortems, retros)
  • Partner with Technology Operations, Finance, HR, Talent, Procurement, and Program Management on budgets, hiring pipelines, vendor management, and governance

Planning, Delivery, and Risk

  • Maintain the enterprise technology portfolio and critical path; surface dependencies and resolve cross‑team trade‑offs quickly
  • Oversee single point of ownership for initiatives
  • Ensure oversight of tier-1 incidents; ensure incident RCAs drive systemic fixes
  • Apply Agile, Lean, and Fast‑Flow principles to reduce lead time and improve flow efficiency across teams

Leadership Enablement & Communications

  • Craft EVP‑level communications: board/exec updates, town halls, technical narratives, and customer‑facing materials; ensure message‑market‑metrics alignment
  • Serve as a proxy for the EVP in forums and decision meetings with pre‑agreed authority
  • Represent the EVP, Technology in predefined forums (e.g., initiative reviews, architecture boards) and commit to direction when proposals meet agreed criteria
  • Approvals: Recommend budget trade‑offs and vendor selections
  • Lead change‑management initiatives in org design, hiring, and culture; model the company’s values

People, Culture & Org Health

  • Foster belonging, psychological safety, candor, and continuous improvement; promote clear ownership and decision‑making
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors 
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • 12+ years in technology roles (Engineering, Architecture, Product/TPM), including operating at senior levels in a 500+ employee tech org
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical designs (cloud architecture, data platforms, AI/ML services, security posture), interrogate trade‑offs, and align to strategic outcomes
  • Track record running large cross‑functional programs in ambiguous environments; expert in OKR and portfolio governance
  • Strong working knowledge of Team Topologies and organizing technology teams at scale
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication and influencing skills; high EQ, professionalism, and discretion
  • Hands‑on familiarity with cloud (AWS/GCP), data platforms (e.g., Snowflake), observability (SLIs/SLOs), CI/CD, and container orchestration
  • Experience leading technology review processes; comfort with DORA/SPACE metrics and reliability practices
  • Prior Chief of Staff or similar strategic leadership experience preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

Compensation

  • Annual base salary: $205,000-$275,000
  • Target annual bonus percentage: 20%
