About the Role:  

We are looking for a Partner Development Manager to join our Partnerships team. This individual is responsible for building relationships with key partners that will accelerate Civil Government (CivGov) client adoption and value realization through Planet Insights Platform. They will collaborate closely with Planet’s sales team to ensure the right partners are engaged with the right opportunities to support Planet’s sales strategy. They will act as an extension of partners, representing their goals and needs within the Planet organization and as an extension of Planet, representing our goals and needs within partner organizations. This role reports to the Partnership Strategy Team Lead and will have alignment to Planet’s Civil Government business group leaders.

This is a full-time, remote position that may be based in the United States or Canada.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Drive success of partnerships in support of Civil Government business across North America and Europe, sometimes as the primary relationship owner and other times in collaboration with other relationship owners
  • Build relationships at various levels of each organization, and make connections between both commercial and technical contacts in management and individual contributor roles, to ensure we are working together in the sales process to achieve revenue goals
  • Become an internal expert on all of the partners you support, understanding their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and conveying that to various stakeholders within Planet to maximize our combined potential
  • Develop operating rhythms with each partner to share relevant updates, exchange feedback, set priorities, and ensure that our joint goals are being achieved
  • Ensure partners have the necessary contracts and right commercial structures in place to allow them to conduct business effectively and to get the most out of our relationship
  • Conduct sales and technical enablement, collaborating cross-functionally within Planet as needed, to ensure partners are able to effectively market, sell and develop on Planet Insights Platform
  • Identify and rectify challenges preventing effective partner collaboration and growth, knowing how and where to engage other stakeholders in the process
  • Ensure that your partners are conducting business up to Planet’s standards, communicating expectations clearly and addressing any potential misalignment
  • Embed yourself within the Civil Government business to ensure we have the right coverage and mix of partners within the region (resellers, value-added resellers, solution providers, app dev, integrators)
  • Help your partners understand how to maximize the benefits of being a Planet Orbit Partner
  • Identify and share opportunities internally to improve upon Orbit Partner Program to meet partner needs
  • Jointly define partner-specific quantifiable goals and create the right reporting cadences across both organizations to monitor progress and to identify and mitigate risks
  • Actively participate in the cadence of Sales Kickoff, Quarter Business Reviews and weekly Forecast calls, representing all aspects of partnerships

What You Bring:

  • 4+ years of experience managing revenue-focused partnerships and/or selling alongside partners
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding individual and team performance expectations
  • Ability to work in a remote-first environment both collaboratively with others and independently while managing your own time effectively
  • Ability to communicate through various modes such as presentation, speaking, and writing to convey information clearly and achieve desired goals
  • Ability to teach and coach partner sales teams on selling Planet products and solutions
  • Ability to juggle competing and shifting priorities, such as knowing how and when to ask for clarification and support
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve and be self-motivated – even when circumstances are less than ideal
  • Ability to overcome obstacles and work through adversity to achieve goals

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Experience working with geospatial imagery and/or GIS software
  • Experience working with partners who support public sector clients
  • Experience in B2B SaaS
  • Experience with API platforms and/or data products business
  • Track record of taking initiative and operating in a self-directed way
  • Demonstrated history of delivering an outsized impact throughout your career
  • Self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses and an ability to recruit help where needed

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below.  Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (commission, bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.  The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

New York City + California Salary Range

$126,280 - $157,850 USD

San Francisco Salary Range

$134,960 - $168,700 USD

US National Salary Range

$116,340 - $145,390 USD
