About the Role:
This Senior Network Engineer will be a key member of a supportive and collaborative CorpEng team. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Planet's growing network infrastructure, both in our data centers and cloud environments. This position requires a proven background in data center build-outs, cloud networking, and infrastructure as code. You will work closely with fellow Corpeng team members and other cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our network.
This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work in our San Francisco HQ 3 days per week.
Impact You'll Own:
- Design, implement, and manage complex network solutions for our data centers and cloud environments (AWS or GCP preferred)
- Lead data center network build-outs, including cabling, hardware installation, and configuration
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for network automation and provisioning
- Configure and manage network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal downtime
- Work closely with a supportive and collaborative Corpeng team and other cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment
- Implement and maintain network security best practices
- Document network designs, configurations, and procedures
- Participate in on-call rotations
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in network engineering
- Extensive experience with data center network design and build-outs
- Experience with cloud networking
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- Advanced understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, etc.)
- Experience configuring and managing network equipment, including:
- Juniper switches
- VyOS
- Aruba wireless and switching solutions
- Ubiquiti UniFi equipment
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco, CA
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, etc.)
- Experience with network monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Experience with AWS and/or GCP cloud networking
- Relevant certifications (CCNP, AWS Certified Networking - Specialty, etc.)

Compensation:
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
San Francisco Salary Range
$162,600 - $203,200 USD
