About the Role:
As a PreSales Solutions Architect specializing in Planet’s Hyperspectral offerings, you will showcase the value of Tanager-derived data and services, helping organizations in the hyperspectral community address their most pressing Earth observation challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Customer Success, Product Management, Professional Services, and Business Development. You will serve as the voice of the customer to shape and enhance Planet’s industry solutions.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States (East Coast). If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week. This role requires frequent international travel up to 25%.
Impact You'll Own:
- Build and deliver presentations and product demonstrations, highlighting technical capabilities of Planet’s platform and our ability to fulfill customer’s business needs.
- Create relationships with customers’ technical and management staff as a trusted advisor to their business.
- Act as an advisor to the customer to recommend a solutions architecture that fits their business challenges.
- Assist with the response to tenders, RFI’s, RFP’s, proposals with respect to product/solution information.
- Work with sales team colleagues to determine account development plans and execute a strategy to engage customers and prospects.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams including Customer Success, Product Management, and Business Development to act as the voice of the customer, assist with RFP and RFI preparation and submissions.
- Attain quarterly and annual sales and operational objectives assigned by management.
- Represent Planet’s Hyperspectral customer requirements to Sales leadership, in communicating forecasts, pipeline opportunities, deal reviews, data in CRM tools, and customer feedback.
- Present to key executive Government stakeholders
- Act as a mentor to team members and lead training to drive their development.
What You Bring:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Earth/Environmental Science, or other relevant field.
- 4+ years of experience in applied hyperspectral data analysis and applications.
- Experience crafting hyperspectral use cases and presentations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, the language of our company.
- Experience working with GIS and Remote Sensing users.
- Experience in IMINT, ISR, and related fields.
- Experience with ERDAS, QGIS, SocketGXP, ArcGIS, GDAL and other common geospatial and hyperspectral software packages.
- Ability to successfully communicate and coordinate with international customers & sales team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive working mindset.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency with Python to process imagery, manipulate hyperspectral data, interact with Planet’s APIs and build data pipelines.
- Ability to lead customer engagements.
- Ability to run workshops or training sessions with users.

Compensation:
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
New York City + California Salary Range
$99,750 - $124,670 USD
San Francisco Salary Range
$106,610 - $133,280 USD
US National Salary Range
$91,910 - $114,870 USD
