About the Role:
As a Licensing and International Trade Compliance Analyst for Planet, you will be a member of the International Trade Compliance (ITC) team within Planet’s Legal organization and will have the opportunity to work on issues that may have large compliance and/or financial implications for the company. You will routinely interface with engineers, management, local and international personnel, as well as external counsel and vendors. You will support Planet in areas of economic sanctions, export/import controls, anti-bribery, and other areas of global trade compliance. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with great judgment and attention to detail. You will have an appreciation of business processes and risks.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.
Impact You'll Own:
- Supporting the ITC team with administration of compliance requirements related to sanctions/embargoes, export/import controls, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption regulations
- Drafting and preparing export licenses and related filings for government agencies (e.g., DDTC and BIS), including license applications, registrations, regulatory notifications, and reporting
- Supporting the lifecycle of export authorization management
- Preparing export classification and licensing determinations
- Vetting Planet and its non-US subsidiary employees for access to export-controlled information
- Reviewing office and manufacturing lab visit requests to ensure compliance with Planet policy
- Coordinating with engineering, launch and manufacturing teams to manage compliance requirements associated with international shipments requests
- Reviewing, clearing, and escalating automated flags for restricted party compliance screening
- Completing compliance due diligence reviews of Planet vendors and/or other third parties
- Ensuring compliance with the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and similar global anti-bribery requirements, including conducting enhanced due diligence reviews, as needed
- Reviewing gifts, travel, and entertainment requests to ensure alignment with Planet policy
- Coordinating with hiring managers and HR teams to implement compliance controls related to employee onboarding and terminations
- Researching and staying abreast of international trade compliance topics for implications to Planet’s global business
- Assisting with the drafting and review of internal processes and procedures
- Assisting with preparing and conducting compliance trainings for employees
- Supporting best practices in record retention and organization
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, International Policy, Business Administration, International Business, or related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving skills and the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
- 2+ years of paralegal or regulatory/government compliance experience
- Experience reading and interpreting regulations
- Ability to work independently and knows when to ask questions
- Ability to take initiative with a methodical approach, handle repetitive tasks and display a continuous improvement mindset
- Technical proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience implementing sanctions, anti-bribery, and/or in export control compliance programs
- Knowledge of HR legal requirements and immigration filings/processes as relates to overlaps of those fields with international trade compliance
- Experience as a paralegal or in a legal environment
- Experience working with engineers or in a technical/aerospace environment
- Experience of working in a dynamic environment

Compensation:
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
New York City + California Salary Range
$75,400 - $94,300 USD
San Francisco Salary Range
$80,200 - $100,200 USD
US National Salary Range
$70,500 - $88,100 USD
