Our 3D Pre-Render Artist role offers the rare opportunity to create stunning visuals that enhance the player experience in our next massive hit, Treasure Party.

This is a high-impact role where you will be responsible for production of high-quality pre-rendered assets for our top mobile title. Leveraging your expertise in 3D rendering and visualization, you’ll drive the creation of visually appealing 3D models and scenes rendered in the PlayQ art style for a game that has already achieved product-market fit. Your role will contribute significantly to our artistic vision and production quality, providing a direct impact on player engagement and satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a talented team passionate about pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming.

Your Impact:

  • Asset Creation: Produce high-quality stylized pre-rendered 3D assets, including environments, characters, and props, that align with our artistic vision and enhance player immersion.
  • Artistic Excellence: Deliver polished and visually stunning pre-rendered images that meet project timelines and quality benchmarks, contributing to the game's overall appeal and success.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with 3D artists, animators, and designers to ensure seamless integration of pre-rendered assets into the game, guiding adjustments to maintain visual consistency and quality.
  • Visual Refinement: Apply advanced techniques in lighting, shading, and texturing to enhance the quality of 3D renders, ensuring final assets align with the creative goals and artistic direction of the project.
  • Creative Problem Solving: Develop innovative solutions and iterate on rendered assets based on feedback from the Art Director and other key stakeholders, upholding a high standard of visual quality.
  • Adaptation and Iteration: Continuously refine rendering processes and incorporate feedback to enhance the effectiveness and visual impact of pre-rendered assets, ensuring responsiveness to project developments and player expectations.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Pre-Render Artist or in a related role, with a portfolio demonstrating your ability to create high-quality stylized pre-rendered assets that enhance player experience and engagement.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in industry-standard 3D software Maya using Arnold for rendering and Photoshop for compositing, with a demonstrated ability to produce visually striking 3D assets.
  • Creative Aptitude: Strong creative problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze artistic feedback and execute adjustments into polished visual assets that align with project goals.
  • Artistic Insight: Comprehensive knowledge of composition, lighting, and color theory, applied through your experience in creating immersive and compelling pre-rendered visuals for games.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, providing guidance and ensuring alignment on the artistic vision, while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

At PlayQ, we leverage competitive benchmarking data when setting each role’s base pay range. Individual base salary will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, scope of role, business need and geographic location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$45,000-$70,000 USD

  • In-office location: Santa Monica, CA
  • This role is open to remote employees located in select US states including California, Washington, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York and Georgia.
  • This role is offered as a full-time position.
