Why you'll want to come to work:

The Senior Manager of Finance and Accounting will be instrumental in managing accounting functions and financial planning and analysis for our rapidly growing company. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will  develop a deep understanding of the mobile games business, mastering cohort forecasting and the cost per acquisition vs. predicted lifetime value equation. You’ll be immersed in the data-driven decision-making of the free-to-play mobile game industry.

You’ll provide financial analysis to support key business decisions, helping to determine the best path forward. Your contributions will have a strong operational impact across the company. You’ll also bring your expertise in managing an accounting team and leveraging technology to the fullest to automate processes. You’ll be hands-on, while guiding the team through monthly reporting, forecasting, and the accounting close.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with a strong top tier accounting/CPA background, looking to develop their financial planning and analysis expertise!

Your Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning: Prepare and evaluate financial scenarios to inform strategic decision-making, drive profitable growth, and support the achievement of company objectives.
  • Accounting Operations: Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including tax compliance and strategy, monthly close and reforecasting, day-to-day accounting activities and payment management.
  • Budget Management: Develop annual budgets and long-term financial plans to ensure strategic and efficient allocation of resources.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial/compliance reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Audit and Compliance: Oversee external audits to ensure financial practices and internal controls are GAAP-compliant and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Financial Efficiency: Oversee cash flow to ensure operational liquidity. Identify cost-saving opportunities to enhance overall financial efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks to ensure the company’s long-term stability. This includes not only analyzing risk/return trade-offs but also managing business insurance assessments and foreign currency fluctuations.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve and add efficiency to financial systems and workflows to drive greater accuracy and scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across the organization to embed financial insights into strategic decision-making and ensure alignment on key initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Manage accounting team, leverage technology, and drive overall team performance.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Educational Background: A solid foundation in accounting, with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. CPA required (active or non-active), MBA is a plus.
  • Finance Drive: 7+ years of accounting and finance experience, driving impactful results through your accounting foundation and managerial skills.
  • Systems Expertise: Skilled with NetSuite or a similar ERP, with knowledge of how to best utilize technology to streamline operations.  
  • Data Driven: Expertise in breaking down complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that guide strategic decisions. 
  • Regulatory Savvy: Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations and compliance to ensure flawless execution and oversight of all financial operations.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Team player who knows how to work closely with different departments to ensure that financial strategies align with overall company goals. Strong communication skills and strategic acumen that build strong relationships and influence decisions at all levels.

At PlayQ, we leverage competitive benchmarking data when setting each role’s base pay range. Individual base salary will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, scope of role, business need and geographic location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$135,000.00 - $170,000.00 USD

  • In-office location: Santa Monica, CA
  • Hybrid Environment: 2-3 days onsite presence at our brand new office in Santa Monica 
  • This role is offered as a full time position
