Systems Engineer

The role 
The Systems Engineer at Plexus Worldwide is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of all physical and cloud infrastructure systems and services. This includes ensuring security, stability, and support for Windows Servers, Microsoft 365 services, MDM and IdP solutions, and backup systems. You collaborate with Engineering and Architectural teams to achieve both immediate and long-term technology-based business goals, while maintaining strong vendor and business partner relationships. This role also encompasses general system administration duties.

What you will achieve 

Enhance Server Infrastructure Security and Stability 

  • Improve the posture of Plexus’ server systems on premise and in the cloud including Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Veeam Backup, and Okta.
  • Implement and monitor security-related initiatives such as MFA/SSO, RBAC, and intrusion analysis. Measure success through reduced security incidents and increased system uptime.

Develop and Maintain IT Infrastructure Solutions 

  • Maintains infrastructure services that meet business requirements. Focus on continuous evaluation and improvement of Plexus' software and hardware solutions to enhance capabilities and efficiencies, ensuring responsible use of company resources. 
  • Document and standardize processes to ensure repeatability and scalability by less experienced technicians. 

Automate and Innovate IT Processes 

  • Use advanced PowerShell scripting to automate routine administration tasks, reducing manual efforts and minimizing errors. Innovate solutions to common IT problems, improving overall efficiency and productivity. 
  • Successfully implement and maintain Plexus' Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, ensuring endpoint security through best practices and recognized standards. 

Critical Subtasks 

Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams 

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the IT infrastructure supports all business functions effectively. Participate in regular cross-functional meetings to align IT initiatives with business goals and ensure timely completion of projects. 

Lead Project Management Efforts 

  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and stability of Plexus' Identity Provider solution, including onboarding new applications and ensuring they meet Plexus' requirements.

Handle Major IT Incidents 

  • Be prepared to address major IT incidents promptly. Identify the root cause, implement solutions to mitigate immediate impact, and develop long-term strategies to prevent recurrence.  

Accomplishments and Proficiencies 

  • Educational Credentials: BS in Computing or Equivalent Experience preferred 

Technical Expertise

Minimum 5 years

  • Microsoft Server Support and Implementation: Achieved and maintained high levels of server performance and reliability through effective support and implementation of Microsoft Servers.
  • Microsoft Active Directory Troubleshooting, Deployment, and Policy Management: Successfully managed and optimized Microsoft Active Directory to ensure secure and efficient user authentication and authorization. 
  • Microsoft 365 Tenant Management: Streamlined administrative tasks through proficient management of Microsoft 365 tenant with automation and technician education.
  • Microsoft Hypervisor Troubleshooting, Deployment, and Solutioning: Implemented and managed Hypervisor environments to support Plexus’ virtualization needs.
  • Enterprise Experience with SSO and MFA Technologies (OneLogin/One Identity, Okta, Auth0, or Azure): Enhanced security and user convenience through the design and implementation of Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) technologies.

2-3 Years

  • AWS Instance Provisioning and Troubleshooting: Provisioned and managed AWS instances to support Plexus’ cloud infrastructure needs.  
  • Microsoft SharePoint Administration: Enhanced collaboration and document management through effective administration of Microsoft SharePoint.
