Position Overview:

The role will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the company’s analytics and data-driven initiatives. The role encompasses leadership over Business Intelligence (BI), Sales Analytics, and Customer Insights, and will drive data-driven decision-making aligned with the company’s growth and financial objectives. The Director will play a key role in identifying growth opportunities, optimizing financial performance, and enhancing customer experience by fostering collaboration across departments like Sales, Marketing, IT, PMO, and Finance.

Key Performance Objectives (KPOs):

  1. Data-Driven Leadership:
    • Establish a recurring accountability cadence with Sales and senior leadership, presenting actionable insights and enabling data-driven decision-making within 90 days.
    • Develop a robust data analytics strategy that provides executive leadership with the tools needed to target customer segments, drive profitable growth, and make strategic business decisions.
  2. Business Intelligence & Reporting:
    • Provide guidance to the BI and Analytics team to continue to design and implement routine dashboards and data reporting systems that align with the company's goals, providing real-time insights for executives and stakeholders within the first 6 months.
    • Identify and execute on "start/stop" actions to drive profitable growth, leveraging data to target high-value customers and optimize product performance.
  3. Cross Departmental Collaboration:
    • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to develop compensation plans, evaluate customer promotions, and support sales strategies, ensuring all initiatives align with financial goals and deliver maximum ROI.
    • Collaborate with IT and PMO to build a data governance framework, improve data integrity, and implement advanced analytics solutions to predict trends and drive strategic decisions.
  4. Customer-Centric Growth:
    • Lead initiatives to integrate customer insights into the business, including voice-of-customer programs and satisfaction surveys, to enhance product development, marketing strategies, and overall customer experience.
    • Champion a customer-centric approach within all functions by embedding customer insights into decision-making processes across departments.
  5. Financial Performance Optimization:
    • Analyze product mix, sales, and profit contribution margins to identify cost reduction and profitability improvement opportunities within 6 months of hire.
    • Develop and implement ROI models for all major projects in collaboration with PMO, IT, and project sponsors, ensuring comprehensive tracking of financial outcomes post-implementation.

Essential Functions:

  • Strategic Oversight:
    • Provide strategic direction to BI, Sales Analytics, and Customer Insights, fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Advanced Analytics Implementation:
    • Lead the design and execution of advanced analytics solutions (predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining) to uncover insights and trends that inform business strategies and foster growth.
  • Data Governance & Infrastructure:
    • Design a data governance framework with defined data ownership and stewardship roles, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and security in collaboration with IT.
  • Customer Insights & Innovation:
    • Drive customer insights initiatives to inform marketing, product development, and customer experience improvements, ensuring data is actionable and leads to tangible business enhancements.
  • Reporting & Communication:
    • Communicate complex financial and data insights to senior leadership, stakeholders, and external partners in a clear, concise manner.
    • Develop comprehensive project KPI reporting and financial analysis tools to track and measure project success, collaborating closely with Finance and PMO.
  • Trend Monitoring & Industry Best Practices:
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in analytics and data strategy to keep the company competitive in its approach to data and insights.

Performance-Based Qualifications:

  • Degree in Relevant Field: Demonstrate the ability to leverage formal education in Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field to deliver a comprehensive data strategy that drives measurable business outcomes and aligns with company goals.
  • 12+ Years of Experience in Data Strategy and Analytics: Apply over 12 years of proven experience in finance, analytics, or data strategy to lead initiatives that optimize financial performance, enhance operational efficiency, and support business growth, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing and scaling data teams.
  • Expertise in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Tools: Deliver advanced data solutions by utilizing expertise in data warehousing, mining, statistical modeling, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau, Snowflake) to develop insights that guide strategic business decisions and achieve performance improvements.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Demonstrate leadership by successfully mentoring, managing, and developing high-performing teams. Build a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring team members meet key performance indicators and exceed company targets in analytics and data initiatives.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Use exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable business insights that influence significant decisions and drive profitability within the first year.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with executive teams to build and implement data-driven strategies that directly impact major business outcomes, improving key metrics such as revenue growth, customer retention, and operational efficiency by measurable amounts.
  • Customer-Centric Focus: Lead customer-centric data initiatives that enhance customer experience by turning data insights into actionable marketing, sales, and product development strategies, improving customer satisfaction and loyalty scores by targeted percentages.
  • Data Science or Analytics Certification: Use formal certification in Data Science or Analytics to apply advanced analytical techniques and predictive models, resulting in measurable improvements in business intelligence processes and strategic outcomes.
