About the Role 

Plus Power recruits outstanding energy industry professionals who are driven to develop, build and operate assets safely and reliably to decarbonize the power markets while growing their careers. We are looking for a Project Development Associate to support multiple projects within Plus Power’s portfolio in Canada.  The Project Development Associate will support a Project Development Manager on site acquisition, permitting, interconnection, and de-risking activities. The Project Development Associate will report a to the Project Development Manager and will have a sophisticated team of subject matter experts who will provide support for specific discrete deliverables such as cost estimates and interconnection process navigation.
  

Responsibilities 

  • Support on site acquisition: work with the Real Estate team to acquire project sites following Plus Power’s processes and success criteria  
  • Support on site due diligence: Work with internal and external subject matter experts to diligence project sites in the Canadian portfolio following Plus Power’s diligence process 
  • Support project development and de-risking activities: support the management of a project pipeline and the execution of complex milestone deliverables across a network of stakeholders  
  • Project management: problem solving nuanced site, permit, and technology issues with internal experts and external stakeholders  
  • Support project finance activities: support the Project Development Manager and Plus Power’s finance team on key financing elements of a project and ensure that all projects and deals continue to meet or exceed financial hurdles  
  • Support commercial activities: Support the Project Development Manager on working with the commercial and markets’ teams to identify and quantify opportunities, as well as preparing the documentation RFP submittals 
  • Support commercial negotiations: support the commercial team on transactions where the input from project development is needed 
  • Support deal execution: providing support in closing and financing each new project


Qualifications
  

  • 1-2 years of experience in project development focused on renewable energy assets 
  • Based in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area  
  • Supported full lifecycle development of a renewable or energy asset 
  • Prior experience with a Company that has developed an energy storage project is preferred  
  • Some entry level experience participating in the development of the following agreement types:  
    • Site lease or purchase agreements  
    • Site Plan and Building Permit approvals  
    • Interconnection agreements  
    • Power purchase or tolling agreements  
    • MIPA / PSA for project disposition / acquisition  
  • Creative independent thinker; demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in both team and individual settings 
  • Must be flexible and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills 
  • Travel required as necessary to support permitting activities, stakeholder meetings and other related tasks
